For many heading off to college, it can seem stressful to try and fit all of your everyday essentials into such a small space. Most dorm rooms or first apartments are small and you are also probably sharing whatever space you do have with at least one roommate. That’s why today we are sharing tips and tricks to help make the most out of your dorm room and organize the space you do have.
When your dorm or apartment is small, it’s best to make the most out of your space. One place we recommend making use of is the space under your bed. Our favorite piece is the Container Store’s Long Under Bed with Wheels Storage Containers for $25. The boxes are made from clear material so that you can see all of your items and they are durable too. Each box features an easy-open, locking lid and wheels to keep your items easily accessible. These are perfect for storing sweaters, blankets, cleaning supplies and more.
If you’re worried about how you’re going to store all of your clothes into your dorm closet, the Container Store also has a kit to help you organize all of your essentials. The kit is $114 and it includes a closet rod expander, 10-compartment canvas hanging shoe storage bags, 3-compartment canvas hanging storage bag, a huggable hanger set of 40, ultra slim finger clip set of 10, 4-tier swing arm pants hanger, over the door mirror and 2 silver mesh stackable shoe shelves. Plus, you can also buy each of these items separately, too.
Most dorm rooms do not include a laundry space so having a hamper or designated space to place dirty laundry is essential. The Popin Laundry Hamper is gender neutral and features a sturdy but soft exterior with integrated handles and a fitted lid. It also features a canvas liner that doubles as a laundry bag to make going to and from the laundry area a breeze. Also, the exterior collapses flat for convenient storage and transport.
Lastly, most dorm rooms also do not have a kitchen space, so having snacks on hand is crucial, especially when you’re pulling an all-nighter. One of our favorite items to store snacks is the White elfa Mesh Compact Fridge Cart. It features three mesh drawers that are perfect for holding snacks, drinks, and even your k-cups. The top of the card is also durable and can be used to place a mini-fridge too.
Which one of these tips is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below.
