Recreating the big-screen movie theater experience at home starts with a feature-rich AV receiver to drive all of your gear. Many people already center their home theaters around Denon receivers, and today the company announced a new model that is sure to pull even more into the company’s ecosystem. Headlined by high-end audio support, eight HDMI inputs and most importantly, AirPlay 2 support, Denon’s latest is as functionality-packed as they come.

At the top of Denon’s new AVR-X3500H AV Receiver you’ll find added AirPlay 2 compatibility. This is the first of the company’s new home theater releases to come packed with support for Apple’s updated audio platform. This allows those with high-end audio systems to finally be able to leverage their surround sound with the likes of Siri.

For those not sold on AirPlay 2 integration alone, Denon’s AVR-X3500H AV Receiver has also buddied up with another company’s virtual assistant, Alexa. Just like any other Alexa-enabled speaker system on the market, this will allow you to bark commands at the receiver to adjust volume levels, play songs from your preferred streaming service and more.

Regardless of which assistant and platform you’ve bought into, Denon looks to position the AVR-X3500H as a solid all-around option for smart homes. But at just under $1,000, voice commands aren’t enough to justify the high-end receiver’s equally high price tag.

In terms of being the center point for your home theater, to say that the AVR-X3500H receiver is adequately equipped is a bit of an understatement. It sports eight HDMI inputs, enough for really any use case, three HDMI outputs and a full 5.1-channel array of ports for connecting your preferred home theater gear. Bluetooth is built-in alongside its Wi-Fi connectivity. You’ll also find that 4K HDR HDMI pass-through is included as well.

Denon has also placed a great deal of its emphasis on the quality of the audio it can output, incorporating support for Dolby Atmos, HDCP 2.2, Enhanced Auto Return Channel and more. How your home theater ends up sounding will largely fall to the quality of your other gear, but Denon is putting in its due diligence to make sure the AVR-X3500H isn’t the weakest link in your setup.

Denon’s latest AV Receiver is currently available for purchase at Amazon and B&H, as well as other authorized retailers. Coming in at a $999 price tag, the AVR-X3500H is far from a budget-conscious option though. But for those looking to bring the perks of AirPlay 2 into their home theaters, Denon’s high-end receiver boasts plenty of functionality to help justify its more expensive price tag.
