In a world where recycling has become a much higher priority than it used to be, Panasonic has released a new product aimed at helping you keep your shoes around a little longer. While the company’s new MS-DS100 deodorizer will not physically prevent your shoes from wearing down, it does allow you to reduce odors so you can happily wear them around longer.
Panasonic’s new deodorizer is the company’s first attempt at putting sprays like DoctorCare Plus’ Foot and Shoe Deodorant to rest. While these types of sprays can be highly-effective, the recurring expense and the times that you forget to purchase them can put you in a somewhat embarrassing predicament.
While the MS-DS100 is not a name you are going to enjoy referring to, you are bound to like the results of the gadget since it performs a much more thorough job of eliminating odors when compared to scented insoles or other types of products.
To keep your shoes smelling fresh, Panasonic’s deodorizer packs its nanoe-X technology. According to the company’s description of nanoe-X, the MS-DS100 uses moisture in the air to form “electrically-charged molecules” that contain hydroxyl radicals. Over time, the molecules win out and eliminate the odors that have been dominating the inside of your shoes.
This new gadget has two modes that are quite simply referred to as normal or long. The deodorization process takes 5 or 7 hours depending on which setting you put the machine on. Since I tend to get around 7 hours of sleep, it seems like this would be the ideal time to use the device and the long mode would be my method of choice.
In the company’s press release, it is mentioned that the device can be operated by either a USB battery pack or power outlet. If you would prefer to use a battery pack, it will need a capacity of at least 3760mAh for regular mode and 5000 mAh for long mode.
If you are looking to get your hands on one of these devices and live in the US, you are likely to be in for a bit of a wait. Panasonic’s MS-DS100 will be available on September 20th and will only be available in Japan at launch.
When considering that Panasonic has many products available in the US, there is a good chance that we may see it come here if there is enough demand or if folks that will ship it oversees. After all, the company’s deodorizing hanger was restricted to Japan at launch, but you can still pick one up thanks to third party sellers at Amazon.
