If you are anything like me, you have accumulated quite a few battery packs over the years. With all of the new power sources that have been cranked out over the last decade, varying options like AC, USB-A, USB-C, and Qi have pushed us to always be on the lookout for the best on-the-go power bank. I think that all of us are ready to throw in the towel if we can’t find one power bank that gives us all the ports that we could possibility need so we only have to keep one in our bag. If this is how you feel, then Goal Zero’s new Sherpa 100AC power bank may very well be the best solution out there.
About a year ago I was ecstatic when I found a battery pack that had built-in cables for micro-USB, USB-C, and Lightning. It even had a built-in AC plug, allowing me to leave lots of cables behind and travel with a sleek brick that could charge devices ranging from a PS4 controller, all the way up to an iPad.
While I still love that battery pack, the Goal Zero Sherpa 100AC checks a lot more boxes and offers over double the capacity with 25,600 mAh. Additionally, the Sherpa 100AC packs enough of a punch to charge laptops, thanks to its built-in AC adapter and two 60W USB-C Power Delivery ports.
Yes, you heard me right, this beast has two 60W USB-C ports. That’s the same amount of power churned out by the adapter that Apple ships with its latest 13-inch MacBook Pros. In fact, I have not had a problem keeping my 15-inch MacBook Pro topped off with the same amount of power while using MonoPrice’s Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station.
In Goal Zero’s Sherpa 100AC product video, the company does a great job showing off just how functional its battery pack can be. Not only does it offer tons of ports, it also packs enough power to keep tons of gadgets up and running without the typical concern of needing to recharge it as frequently as most other power banks.
With 5W Qi-charging capabilities baked right in, it is clear that Goal Zero set out to make charging simple and convenient with its latest power bank. Last but not least, the Sherpa 100AC sports two USB-A ports that are capped at an output of 12W, giving you plenty of power for any devices that don’t support USB-C.
On its website, Goal Zero touts that the Sherpa 100AC is ‘the ultimate travel essential’. This is because the company has gone the extra mile to ensure that its large 25,600 mAh capacity power bank is airline approved, giving you enough juice for long flights and with maybe even enough to share.
The Sherpa 100AC Power Bank is immediately available for purchase from either the Goal Zero website or its Amazon store. While power bank is certainly not cheap at $299.95, it is definitely one of the best battery packs that I have seen.
