Amidst the wave of Black Friday ads that were unveiled today, Barnes & Noble rolled out its B&N Gift Guide. This carefully-curated resource is organized in a way that’ll make it easy to shop for that certain someone. While there aren’t any Black Friday-tier offers to be found within, this buying guide isn’t completely void of deals, either. Find more details after the jump.
“Your Own Perfect-Gift Assistant”
Barnes & Noble considers its gift guide to be “Your Own Perfect-Gift Assistant.” It’s separated into eight categories; within those are numerous sub-categories. While it could be a bit overwhelming, it’s also perfect if you already have someone in your mind to buy for.
Navigating the B&N Gift Guide is fairly efficient. Select the category that best fits your recipient’s interests for a list of relevant items. From there, you can click on a product of interest, which will yield a pop-up window with item info, add-to-cart button, and other pertinent details. When you’re ready to check out, the process will begin in a new window, so you don’t lose your place in the Guide.
What you’ll find in the B&N Gift Guide
Books! Naturally, a bookstore will encourage consumers to “give a gift of reading.” For adults, there is a nice selection of classic titles and more modern favorites. In the Teens & YA category there are loads of box sets from popular series such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Hunger Games. There is even a section of the Guide dedicated to Big Kids, which includes gifts of LEGO, Harry Potter, and graphic novels and manga.
Beyond books, the B&N Gift Guide also features a list of Top Toys. It prominently features LEGO Harry Potter and LOL Surprise, among other toys that are bound to be a hit with the young ones.
There’s even a category for Pop Culture and Trend items. This encompasses collectible figures like those from Bandai’s S.H.Figuarts and Funko POP!, the biggest movie releases of the year, and strategy board games. There are even sub-categories dedicated to popular franchises such as Studio Ghibli, Stranger Things, and Game of Thrones.
Special values to be found within
While this is meant to be more of a resource for gift giving than an actual sale, the B&N Gift Guide is not void of any discounts, as it features a Special Values category. Individual items may see some very modest markdowns, although there are several multi-buy specials on books that can help save you some cash. For instance, you can buy two Favorite Paperbacks and get a third one FREE, or buy two graphic novels and get a third one FREE.
Other Special Values include 20% off all new hardcover releases, Good Housekeeping cookbooks for $10 each, and — if you’re still inclined to send good tidings via snail mail — 30% off holiday boxed cards.
The countdown to Black Friday
We recently took a look at ways you could prepare for Barnes & Noble’s Black Friday Sale. As we touched upon in that guide, if you’re a BN Member, you’ll be able to enjoy some additional discounts on B&N Gift Guide items right now. While it costs $25 to join the rewards program for the year, you’ll also receive $60 in coupon savings upon enrollment. Of course, this is recommended for anyone who shops at Barnes & Noble regularly already.
In the meantime, add the items you have an eye on from the B&N Gift Guide to your wishlist, and wait until the week of Black Friday to see if or when you’ll be able to score better deals.
