Earlier this year, LG announced its first CineBeam Projector which featured 4K HDR in a portable and mirrorless design. Now, at CES 2019, LG will be showcasing its latest CineBeam 4K projector at CES 2019, which brings many welcomed upgrades like short throw technology, a new design, and more.
LG’s CineBeam 4K short throw projector packs impressive tech
LG’s latest CineBeam projector brings some much-welcomed improvements. The previous generation needed to be placed closer to the center of the room in order to provide a proper projection pattern. The second generation uses short throw technology. That means you’ll get a 90-inch projection at just two inches away from the wall, and if you place it seven inches away it’ll provide a 120-inch screen. This is perfect for compact spaces or living rooms, as you can just set the projector on your entertainment center and enjoy a beautiful screen.
The second generation CineBeam Projector provides 2,500 ANSI Lumens for light output. That’s more than enough for a home projector and will be easily visible during the day or night. Resolution-wise, LG packs 4K graphics into this small package. It’s “smaller than other leading 4K projectors” and the design is built to blend in with your home’s decor.
For adjustment, you’ll find a 12-point keystone feature which will give you superb access to fighting image distortion, giving you greater picture quality and allowing you to enjoy your content more.
Smarts built-in
You’ll also get webOS on this projector, as well. This means you’ll have built-in access to Netflix, Hulu, and more, negating the requirement of using an external streaming box like the Apple TV or Fire TV. Should you want to hook something up, however, LG provides USB, Ethernet, and HDMI ports alongside wireless support for things like keyboard and mice.
Artificial Intelligence brings unique features
Through AI, you can say things like “turn the projector off after the movie has finished” and your projector will automatically know what to do when using the included Magic Remote.
You can also use commands like “play yoga videos on YouTube” and the display will spring to life, showing you the exact content that you asked for. This is great as it’s all done through the built-in interface and remote with the projector, meaning it doesn’t rely on Alexa or Assistant for its commands.
Pricing and availability
LG will be debuting this projector at CES 2019, which takes place January 8-11. There is no pricing information just yet, but we can expect more info to come out during the show.
