JBL unveils new Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker at CES, along with gesture-controlled PartyBox

JBL-Flip-5

This morning at CES, JBL unveiled a handful of new speakers headlined by the revamped Flip 5. Cashing in on the momentum of its previous Flip speakers, JBL is making a handful of key improvements. That includes an impressive 12 hours of battery life and USB-C charging.

Along with today’s Flip 5 announcement JBL is also taking the wraps off its new PartyBox speakers. This new release delivers everything for a quality DJ experience. This includes built-in lighting that’s controlled by a gesture-based wristband. Head below for more details on both releases.

JBL Flip 5 announced at CES

JBL’s lineup of Bluetooth speakers is expanding even further with the new Flip 5. Continuing on with its IPX7 waterproof design, the Flip 5 includes USB-C charging, speakerphone and a 4800mAh 12-hour battery.

Michael Mauser, President of the Lifestyle Audio Division details this release further:

“Thanks to its amazing sound, enhanced features and approachable price point, the Flip Series has always been a popular option for consumers, so we’re excited to bring them the next generation with the JBL Flip 5. Similar to some of our other recently announced portable Bluetooth speakers, the Flip 5 will be offered in an on-trend and eye-catching color pallet, including fan favorites such as Dusty Pink, River Teal, and Fiesta Red”.

The JBL Flip 5 is slated to be released later this spring for $99.95. It will be available in 11 different color options at launch: Desert Sand, Mustard Yellow, Dusty Pink, Grey Stone, River Teal, Fiesta Red, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Steel White, Forest Green, and Squad.

JBL PartyBox is a full-featured party machine

Meanwhile, JBL is going big with its new PartyBox speaker system. It’s colorful and features a larger 10000mAh battery for up to 18-hours of playback on a single charge. But what really steals the show is its built-in lighting system that works in tandem with the beat of your music. It truly is a PartyBox.

Another notable feature is the Air Gesture Wristband. While details are somewhat thin here, this patent pending accessory is designed to give DJs quick access to various playback controls with a flick of the wrist. Look for more to come out on this feature over the coming months.

The JBL PartyBox will be available in three different sizes and price points. An entry-level model, the PartyBox 200 will retail for $349.95, while the larger 300 and 1000 models will sell for $449.95 and $999.95, respectively. Each model is larger in size with additional wattage but will lack any battery life improvements. JBL PartyBox is slated to ship in July.
