Chromecast with Google TV (HD) sees first discount to an even more affordable $18

Reg. $30 $18

Update: Now live as part of its Deals for Days sale, Walmart is marking down the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) to $18, delivering an extra $2 in savings in order to mark a new low.

After seeing a price cut go live yesterday on the 4K version, Amazon is now discounting the just-released Chromecast with Google TV (HD). On sale for the very first time, pricing drops down to $19.98 with free shipping for Prime members or in orders over $25. Normally fetching $30, today’s offer delivers the first chance to save with a 33% discount attached. As the latest addition to Google’s stable of streaming media players, this new HD version of Chromecast arrives as a more entry-level offering for giving the TV some love. Sporting 1080p playback at 60 FPS, you’ll be able to enjoy all of your favorite content alongside the curation features that put all of the shows and movies in one place. We break down what to expect from the experience in our hands-on review.

If even the $20 price tag noted above is a bit too steep, you could also just opt for the onn Android TV Streaming Stick at $15. This alternative delivers much of the same 1080p playback, just without the first-party integrations you’d expect from one of Google’s in-house streaming media players. Even so, the price is hard to beat for those who are in the market for an affordable way to up the smarts of an existing TV.

Of course, if your actual home theater or 4K TV could use a streaming media player upgrade, the 4K version of Google’s Chromecast is also on sale. Delivering much of the same experience that puts all of your content into one place right on your television, this one fittingly sports 4K HDR playback to step up from the more affordable model on sale above. It’s down to $40, delivering 20% in savings in the process.
