It won’t be long now until we get our first good look at the next major installment in the long-running Ubisoft stealth-action-RPG-parkour series (or whatever it is these days), Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to debut this week. And by debut, I mean Ubisoft has now scheduled a May 15 launch for the Official Cinematic World Premiere Trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Head below for more details.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Back in 2022 Ubisoft revealed a very short, but quite compelling teaser trailer for something called Assassin’s Creed Red. The upcoming codenamed Red AC title was (mostly) shrouded in mystery at the time, but we have since learned it will be a full-on, major installment in the series following in the footsteps of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and presumably Mirage. Marc-Alexis Cote, creative director and producer at Ubisoft for the franchise, previously said the game was the “next premium flagship” AC experience, going on to say it was the future of the open-world AC RPG games.

We now know Assassin’s Creed Red is, in fact, called Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Ubisoft hasn’t left us anything but the upcoming trailer date and this post on X (Twitter):

We know the game is set in feudal Japan, we think the game will bring some of the Animus action back (past and present aspects), and some leaks since the original teaser suggested gamers will have the choice between a samurai or a shinobi. Cote was previously quoted as saying the game will give players the chance to live out a “powerful Shinobi fantasy.” It sounds like players will have two characters to choose from here, but it is unclear if this is, in fact, two characters or something more akin to classes at this point.

Either way, we’ll know for sure come Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 9 am PT/12 p.m. ET.

Reports suggest the game is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but not PS4 or Xbox One. Nothing confirmed here just yet though.

I, for one, thought we were definitely going to have to wait for Ubisoft’s big summer Forward showcase for more on this one.

Annnnnd here it is!

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red becomes Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Watch the Official Cinematic World Premiere Trailer on May 15, 9 AM PT.
