LEGO is kicking off today’s holiday with a summer blockbuster throwback! The company has officially revealed the upcoming Ideas 21350 Jaws build set, with more photos and some new information, but no way to pre-order it yet. Coming right in the wake of the LEGO Technic 42174 Emirates Team New Zealand AC75 Yacht set’s unveiling, as well as the most recent first looks at the LEGO Star Wars 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter set, this Jaws build is the 58th addition to the LEGO Ideas lineup that will make landfall a few days later than initially reported. Get more details alongside a closer look with more images down below.
Coming in to honor the classic 1975 summer thriller (that also gave sharks a misinformed reputation that set off a massive conservation issue at the time), the LEGO Ideas 21350 Jaws set has had its release date pushed back slightly to August 3, 2024 for LEGO insiders and further to August 6 for the general public, but the price is officially set in place at $149.99 shipped. Presented and voted on by the general public, the Jaws project reached its 10,000 vote goal back in November 2022, picked by LEGO as one of the winners of the Third 2022 Review Stage alongside another proposal that would go on to become the 21349 Tuxedo Cat build. Now here we are, nearly 2 years later, finally seeing it surface from the murky deeps.
Stacking up to 1,497 pieces, this set recreates the most iconic scene(s)/location(s) from the first Jaws film – The Orca, the shark-hunting vessel captained by the eccentric Quint. This model stands 14 inches high and comes complete with a buildable Bruce (the shark), as well as minifigures of the three men who gave their lives for the hunt: Chief Brody, Matt Hooper and Quint. The set also comes with a diorama base that holds all the included bits to recreate the fateful battle at the end of the film, measuring 23 inches in length from Bruce’s tail to the pulpit of the Orca. You’re gonna need a bigger shelf!
Browse through all the new photos below and enjoy! We will update this post when the set is officially available for pre-order.
