Today Twelve South debuting a new special edition of its popular AirFly in-flight audio transmitter. These handy little gadgets are designed to provide an ultra-compact audio solution, effectively connecting to wired-only sources before beaming the audio wirelessly to your AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones. While we are getting the AirFly 2 or some higher-end pro-grade model today, the brand is reissuing its most affordable AirFly SE adapter today with a fresh coat of iridescent paint. Scope it out below.
New iridescent Twelve South AirFly debuts today
We have been fans of the Twelve South AirFly lineup for a while around here, and they remain in our travel kits to this day – we just featured them in our best travel essentials for Apple devices a few months back.
There are four models in the lineup, ranging from the entry-level and most affordable SE right through to the Duo that can support a pair of wireless headphones, and the Pro model that ups the battery life and can even includes a nice travel pouch.
Today though, it appears the brand is just updating the SE variant with a fresh coat of shimmering iridescent paint. The SE model rfepviously only came in white – you need to jump up to the more pricey variants to score the black option, but you can now opt for the same old white at $34.99 or the brand new iridescent model at $39.99 shipped. The new model is available directly from Twelve South and at Amazon starting right now.
Features at a glance:
Plug into any audio jack to use wireless headphones or earbuds in places that only have a headphone jack, like airplanes and treadmills.
- Up to 25 hours battery life
- Connect up to 2 pairs of headphones
- Use for air travel, gym, and gaming
While it certainly would have been nice to see a whole new generation of AirFly from the brand, the models still available in the lineup really offer just about everything you might need from a product like this anyway. The $5 up charge here for the new paint job is slightly, let’s say, annoying, but it is only $5…I guess. Either way it looks pretty cool and there’s a new AirFly on the block starting today.
For something even more affordable, albeit slightly less elegant, scope out Nulaxy’s take on the in-flight transmitter that sells for $20 Prime shipped right now.
