Just after seeing some solid 30% price drops go live on the Google Nest smart cams, we are now turning our attention to some notable discounts on the companion Google Nest Doorbell. Amazon is now offering the regularly $180 intelligent front door solution down at $99.99 shipped, and that includes both the wired and the wireless battery models in all four colorways. This 44% discount is also live over at Best Buy as well. We have seen a few fleeting deals outside of Amazon for less than this, but very rarely do these cameras ever drop below $100 – some colors are now at new Amazon all-time lows. You’ll even find Best Buy’s open-box units in “excellent” condition with 1-year warranties down at $59.99 shipped right now.
While the battery model can be wired into your existing doorbell system, the real benefit there is the ease of installation as the whole thing is just powered by the internal battery. The main difference between the two is the wire-free installation or the “always-on video with continuous power” on the wired model once connected to your system.
They otherwise deliver a very similar experience, with the ultra-clean Google-designed hardware that, in my opinion, can look great on the front of just about any home, and the bevy of smart features one would expect from a smart doorbell.
They both include intelligent alerts with the ability to tell the difference between people, packages, animals, and vehicles, alongside the usual 24/7 1080p HD live video feed sent to your smartphone and Google’s “see what you missed” feature – “3 hours of free event video history.” The two-way audio allows you to answer the door without opening it and the Nest Doorbell can store up to 1 hour of recorded events even if there’s a power outage or your Wi-Fi gets knocked out.
