After seeing AirPods Pro 2 hit the all-time low very early this morning, Apple’s new USB-C AirPods Max are now getting in on the Amazon Black Friday Week deals. While you will find select colors of the original AirPods Max with Lightning starting from $429 right now, the newer USB-C variants are now marked down to $499.99 shipped today. Regularly $549, that’s $49 off the going rate on all five of Apple’s new colorways: Midnight, Starlight, blue, orange, and purple. This is within a couple bucks of the lowest we have tracked outside of the orange model that had a short stint down at $487.
The new AirPods Max are really just the same as the original model/colorways, but with a USB-C port for charging, and, for many, not the AirPods Max 2 they were hoping for. But they are also beloved by nearly as many people and we are at least getting a short reprieve from the lofty price tag today ahead of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.
Beyond the USB-C port, AirPods Max feature a truly Apple design with a knit-mesh canopy, memory foam ear cushions, and a metal build. Powered by Apple’s H1 chip and combined with a custom acoustic design, AIrPods Max feature “pro-level” Active Noise Cancellation as well as a Transparency mode that “lets you comfortably hear and interact with the world around you” while the Dolby Atmos support joins personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking.
Go get a better look at the new Midnight colorway and the difference between it and the previous Space Gray treatment alongside some real-world imagery right here.
