Samsung debuts ‘first monitor to integrate on-device AI’ with all-new OLED Smart Monitor M9

Samsung Smart Monitor M9 OLED CES 2025

Alongside its new Odyssey 3D monitor that is now finally ready to ship after being unveiled at least year’s CES, this year Samsung is debuting its new Smart Monitor M9. We have been big fans of the brand’s Smart Monitor lineup for years now, delivering wonderful productivity displays with a host of bonus onboard features like direct access to streaming TV and its gaming hub (among many other things), but this year it is taking the line next-gen with OLED panels and some AI enhancements. Scope out the details on the new Samsung Smart Monitor M9 below.

Samsung unveils new AI-powered Smart Monitor M9 with OLED panel

Samsung says the Smart Monitor M9 introduces “industry-first AI features” that are designed to enhance the entertainment experience on the monitor as well as “interactivity through smart picture adaptation and search functions.”

It says the M9 is the “first monitor to integrate on-device AI” by way of the AI Picture Optimizer – it analyzes input signals, understands the content type being viewed (“gaming, video or productivity applications,” and then automatically adjusts its own settings “for the best visual experience.”

As far as gaming goes, the M9’s onboard AI goes even further with the ability to recognize “the genre of the game being played and fine-tune the picture settings to deliver an optimal and immersive experience for every playstyle.”

The monitor’s onboard 4K AI Upscaling Pro basically does exactly what it sounds like it does, leveraging what Samsung describes as advanced AI processing and neural networks to upgrade low-res content up to 4K. It can apparently deliver “crystal-clear visuals with enhanced detail, regardless of the original resolution.”

While there isn’t much detail in today’s press release regarding the monitor’s I/O and onboard TV streaming functionality (previous models also provided access to Samsung’s Gaming Hub, offered drag and drop functionality with content on select Galaxy devices, and more), it would only make sense that the M9 does as well.

Samsung’s 2024 M8 Smart Monitor

We do know it is the first Smart Monitor in the lineup to feature an OLED panel, a 32-inch 4K OLED screen with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 to be exact. Alongside the onboard 4K camera, “its thin design, along with the Easy Setup Stand, allows users to effortlessly create their ideal workspace.”

As of right now there are no pricing or availability details, but we will keep an eye out. The latest 32-inch M8 Smart Monitor carries a $700 list price (currently on sale for $400) and doesn’t include the OLED panel, just to give you some kind of indication where the M9 might land.
