In what has been a near endless string of rumors over the last couple years, leaks and details on the next Switch console are seriously starting to ramp up lately, with several industry insiders and those in the know suggesting the official announcement of Switch 2 could be just days away now.
Nintendo Switch 2 reveal this week?!
After Switch accessory makers recently dished up a mock of the console that is apparently based on the real thing and suggested an April launch window, even more specific details are seemingly coming to light this morning.
According to the arguably quite reliable Nate The Hate podcast, and corroborated by details from VGC’s inside sources, Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially revealed this week.
While we certainly can’t say for sure this will be the case, we are talking about some historically reliable sources here that seem particularly confident the Switch 2 will finally surface this week on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The Nate the Hate podcast said it is ready to share that Nintendo Switch 2 “will be revealed in the coming week…just a few days from now” apparently.
The source goes on to say an upcoming reveal trailer will surface later this week focusing “almost exclusively on the console itself” – there will purportedly be no mention of new games, but there could be on-screen games shown during the trailer.
As pointed out by VGC, the original Switch was reveal with a dedicated trailer way back in 2016 before a complete reveal trailer of sorts surfaced the following January where we actually got to see some games.
This two-part reveal appears to be what’s in the works for Nintendo Switch 2 – this week we will get the initial announcement and sources suggest a proper look at the games will come at a later date.
Nate The Hate doesn’t seem to be quite as sure on the actual launch date though, but did suggest May or June of this year – that aligns with what VGC has heard but it’s at least one month later than previous rumors and leaks from accessory makers that suggested it would launch in April. Perhaps the accessory makers are getting dates that align with when its add-ons should be ready to go, and maybe even something closer to pre-order dates.
All we know for sure, is that Switch 2 is coming – Nintendo has already officially confirmed it would reveal the console sometime by March 2025 and it looks like we could be just days away at this point.
