Utilizing Apple CarPlay has become a pretty common feature across modern automobiles, but in many cases, displaying your iPhone screen directly on your vehicle’s infotainment screen still requires a physical cord. To bridge that gap, we tested out the Wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter from TERUNSOUI.

Electronicsforward’ Take

This is a simple-to-use plug-and-play adapter that enables you to wirelessly project your iPhone on the infotainment screen of any CarPlay-compatible vehicle. While the setup was easy, this adapter did come with some connection issues.

The unboxing was quite simple as you can imagine. The package includes the Wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter itself, a quick starter guide, longer, more detailed instructions, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter.

The setup process really is as simple as advertised. You plug the device into your car’s USB port, then connect your iPhone to it through the Bluetooth menu. That sent a paring request to my SUV’s center infotainment screen, which I then tapped to accept and I was ready to go.

Once connected, my compatible apps, including Google Maps for navigation and Spotify for tunes while driving, were immediately displayed on my vehicle’s center screen.

Like a wired Apple CarPlay connection, the wireless adapter enabled me to seamlessly change songs from my phone or my vehicle’s screen. I could also briefly skip tracks from my steering wheel, but that function suddenly disappeared. That could be a compatibility issue with the SUV and does not necessarily have anything to do with the adapter.

However, I encountered an issue when the wireless Apple CarPlay adapter was plugged in; my SUV had trouble recognizing that my key fob was in the front seat with me. As a result, my car would not start until I unplugged the adapter. After that, I noticed in the product description that the TERUNSOUI warned the following:

Bluetooth and WiFi interference: Other nearby devices or signals may interfere with the connection.

I can’t say if this is a common issue for drivers using this wireless CarPlay adapter, but it was an inconvenience that required some troubleshooting before I could figure out what was causing it.

Overall, the Wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter was easy to unpack and set up, and when connected, my iPhone was seamlessly displayed on my vehicle’s infotainment screen. That being said, the connection issues affecting my vehicle’s push-to-start function were concerning, and I’d rather rely on a wired connection than risk being stuck somewhere with a car that won’t start.

I’d like to hope my connection interference is not common in all vehicles, so trying this Wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter out for yourself may still be worth it, especially since its makers offer a 365-day warranty.

As stated above, the wireless adapter is available in both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto versions and costs $70.99, but use the link in the description below for an exclusive sale price.
