Xbox had its turn late last month, and now it’s time for the first PlayStation State of Play showcase of the year. Sony took to its official PlayStation Blog yesterday to announce it would be hosting its first live broadcast this afternoon, and we are now quickly approaching the start time. Everything kicks off at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET and we will be following along with you down below.
February PlayStation State of Play showcase
Today’s State of Play showcase is slated for a 40-minute runtime and it’s set to go live very soon. As of right now we don’t have much to go on in terms of what we will actually be seeing here today outside of Sony’s usual general description – “news and updates on great games coming to PS5…creative and unique selection of exciting games from studios around the world.”
That said, the Elden Ring: Nightreign release date hit this morning, so that’s off the table (hopefully). And one can only assume the accidental leaked release date for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater that hit the PlayStation Store, alongside the subsequent leaked trailer, we caught recently was likely supposed to be in today’s show. It might still, but it will be underwhelming if the summer release date hasn’t changed. If you haven’t already blown it for yourself, and would rather wait for today’s show, don’t get check out our post on it.
All of that said, I think a lot of PlayStation gamers are hoping for some additional details on Ghost of Yōtei – the Ghost of Tsushima sequel that was unveiled at the September 2024 State of Play. It is, or at least was, set to release this year, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see more on the game here today.
