Amazon has now knocked the price down on all five colors of the latest AirPods Max with USB-C to $479.99 shipped. Regularly $549, this is on par with our previous mention with $69 in savings up for grabs. While we have seen a couple chances to score them at $99 off, this is within $20 of the all-time low on Apple’s flagship over-ears that haven’t seen a ton of discounts since their debut in fall 2024.
For the record, the previous-generation Lightning sets are mostly either solid out or selling for even more than the newer USB-C models right now. They are essentially identical outside of the colors and Lightning connector.
The Apple AirPods Max are a serious investment – they are not cheap headphones. You’ll find plenty of options out there from Bose and even Sony that can give them a good run for their money in the over-ear ANC headphone category, but there is really nothing quite like Apple’s design.
The Max’s knit-mesh canopy, memory foam ear cushions, and metal build mange to stand out in the busy headphone category, while also delivering on the tech side of things with “pro-level” Active Noise Cancellation and a Transparency mode that “lets you comfortably hear and interact with the world around you.” Powered by Apple’s H1 chip, you’ll also enjoy Spatial Audio tech with dynamic head tracking features too.
