With summer officially here and the hot weather that always comes with it, consumers are constantly looking for ways to stay cool, myself included. Shark, a household name for vacuums, air purifiers, and hair care, has come out with its first fan, and I had the pleasure of taking it for a test run. The Shark FlexBreeze Fan is powerful and packed with some really cool features that set it apart from other fans on the market, it’s even blowing cool air on me as I write this! Head below for a detailed look at my days testing and enjoying the Shark FlexBreeze fan.
Review: The Shark FlexBreeze Fan
I’ve never been one to seek out a smart fan, I’ve always assumed they all worked the same. Low to high speed and maybe an oscillation if I’m lucky. Thank you, Shark, for creating the perfect and most versatile fan I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. Equipped for both indoors and outdoors, the FlexBreeze Fan is both corded and cordless. The built-in battery has a runtime of 24 hours (when used on the lowest setting) and is easy to move from your living room to yard to garage to patio to bedroom…you get the idea. It easily transforms from a pedestal style to a tabletop and can be charged in both modes. The Instacool Misting Attachment, plus the rain and UV resistance, makes this fan an amazing accessory for hot summer days in the garden or for sitting poolside. Now that I’ve gotten a taste of a fan like this, I’m never going back.
Let’s glance at all the features one can expect from Shark’s new FlexBreeze Fan and then keep reading to hear more about my hands-on experience.
- 24-HOUR RUNTIME: Get 24 hours of runtime* from a single battery charge and take the portable fan places you never thought possible. Run out of battery? Just plug it in and keep the power going while recharging. *Based on fan speed 1, No oscillation
- CORDED TO CORDLESS FAN: Plug in this ultra-powerful fan for endless power, or for more freedom, go cordless.
- OUTDOOR TOUGH, INDOOR SLEEK: Rain-resistant and durable. Take it to sporting events, cookouts, the park, or the beach, and use it outside with no stress. Indoor sleek—a stylish addition to your home.
- TRANSFORMS TO TABLETOP: Switch from pedestal to tabletop mode in seconds with the press of a button so you can grab it and go.
- INSTACOOL MISTING ATTACHMENT: Enjoy immediate, on-demand cooling mist— easily connects to your hose and rapidly reduces temperatures to feel up to 10 degrees cooler.
- BRING THE BOOST: In BreezeBoost™ mode, you can feel the breeze from over 70 feet away—fend off heat outside or bring amazing air circulation inside.
- VARIABLE SPEEDS, OSCILLATION, AND MORE: 5 fan speeds, 180 degrees of side-to-side oscillation, 55-degree up-and-down tilt. Lightweight design at only 13 lbs., with a misting attachment and even a remote that you can store on the fan.
- DURABLE: UV resistance and a water-resistant design mean it’s safe to use outside, rain or shine.
- ULTRA-QUIET: Incredibly quiet fan, even at the highest speed, perfect for working from home or sleeping.
Straight out of the box, this fan is sleek and blended in well with the decor of our home. I initially set it up in the living room on a hot spring day and played around with the different settings. It is easy to figure out what the different buttons on top of the unit do, you can power on and off, change the fan speed, and adjust the oscillation levels easily. The remote is also easy to navigate but allows for even more control of the fan position and a button to quickly activate BreezeBoost mode (which allows you to feel the breeze from over 70 feet away). Another great first impression is how quiet this fan is. It is insanely quiet, even on the highest setting. There are so many situations where this can come in handy, like during working hours or if you are sensitive to noise while you sleep. For someone like me who enjoys a little white noise while I sleep, this fan doesn’t perform well for me in that situation, but that is not what I like using this fan for anyway, so it doesn’t take away from my positive experience.
My two favorite features of the FlexBreeze fan are its ability to go from corded to cordless and pedestal to tabletop. I chose one corner of my living to be its home base, where I keep it plugged in to charge overnight and take advantage of a cool breeze while I relax on the couch. Then throughout the day, with the simple press of a button, I remove the fan from its base and take it with me without having to worry about the cord. It’s incredibly lightweight to carry around in tabletop mode as well. We take it with us to sit outside for lunch, to our home gym, to the garden while we pull weeds, to the garage for summer projects…practically anywhere and everywhere without having to worry about an extension cord. And then, at the end of the night, we charge it back up on its base. It’s worth pointing out that it can be charged in both pedestal and tabletop mode, which is great.
My family of four went camping over Memorial Day weekend, and this fan came right along. When the inside of our pop-up camper heated up from the warm sun, we were able to use the FlexBreeze to stay cool without needing to plug it in. Overnight, we plugged it into the Growatt INFINITY 2000 power station and never had to worry about either the fan or battery running out of juice. When the mosquitos wouldn’t quit bothering us, this fan sat right next to us and blew them away. It did everything we needed it to while we were away from home. In the future, I think I would just travel with it in its tabletop version to save on space. It’s so nice that I even have that option.
The InstaCool Misting Attachment is a really awesome feature for the hottest of summer days. The attachment simply clicks on the front of the FlexBreeze fan and then attaches to your garden hose or water spigot. A superfine mist emerges from the attachment while the fan blows the cool water in your direction. I see myself using this feature all summer while the kids are playing outside or when I’m out in the garden. It makes the temperature feel up to 10 degrees cooler, and that is needed here in the Midwest when the humidity picks up.
Pricing and availability
The Shark FlexBreeze Fan with InstaCool Mist Attachment is available to purchase right now on Shark’s website or Amazon for $199.99. A few accessories are available for purchase as well: a storage cover and a 12V car charger. Currently, when you purchase from Shark’s website, you can add one extra accessory for free with your fan purchase. While this may seem like a steep price to pay for just a fan, the versatility of this product makes it feel more than just a fan.
Electronicsforward’ Take
I didn’t know I could love a fan so much. From working at my desk to sitting on the back porch, pulling weeds in the garden, camping trips, and more, the FlexBreeze Fan is my new companion this summer—and, if I’m being honest, every summer after that. I love the sleek appearance, its durability, the ability to transform from pedestal to tabletop, and the ease of the impressive battery life. The InstaCool misting attachment is the cherry on top. If I were to handpick everything I’d want in a fan, this one just about has it all.
