Here are the new premium Ultimaker 2 Go and 2 Extended home 3D printers

There are quite a number of 3D printers available for home use on the market now (including 3D printer pens), and Ultimaker recently introduced two new entries. Spin-off models of the Ultimaker 2, the new Ultimaker 2 Go and 2 Extended were recently shown off at this year’s CES and billed as the “perfect solution for makers who want to start with 3D printing on a premium level.”

Head below for more details and a closer look in the reveal video:

First up is the Ultimaker 2 Go. The smaller of the two, it designed as both an entry level model and for those looking for more on-the-go use. Along with dedicated portable packaging, and a quick start feature, its no-heat bed design allows users to get print jobs up and running even quicker, according to the company. Ultimaker also says its simple user interface makes it an “ideal” machine for first-time users, despite the $1,450 price tag it will carry when it comes available for preorder in just two months time.

The Ultimaker 2 Extended has some of the “highest speed highest speed and accuracy found on any desktop 3D printer” (300mm/s, 0.02mm layer resolution). It will also create much larger plastic robots that its smaller counterpart as you can see above with a 4 inch (10 cm) larger build volume.

It’s “for those who just want a little bit more than the best,” and those who drop $3,030 on a high end home 3D printer made from “premium” parts and materials. For those who don’t, the XYZprinting Da Vinci 1.0 3D Printer comes in at $499 (as low as $400) and the UP! Mini Fully Assembled 3D Printer is $599.99. While the new Ultimakers dwarf models like these two in price, they certainly look a lot nicer in the process.

Both the new Ultimaker 2 machines are said to go up for preorder starting March of this year and begin shipping in April.
