Quirky’s new Poppy line of home automation includes a gorgeous pour-over coffee maker w/ iOS integration

Admittedly, I love coffee. All the different roasts, blends and ways to make it are so intriguing to me. There has been an influx of coffee makers recently that offer a variety of different solutions for getting your morning cup of joe. I’m not sure that I’ve seen one recently as eye-catching as the Pour-Over from Quirky. This line of products – named Poppy – also has solutions for feeding your pets and your baby (separately) and will even order new food automatically from Amazon when you need it.

All of Quirky’s solutions operate via the Wink iOS app, which communicates with a number of home automation standards. The Poppy Pour-Over has an elegant design that brews coffee on demand from a do-it-all machine. With a built-in hopper that holds over a pound of coffee and a 50 ounce water reservoir, the Pour-Over will keep you caffeinated for a while. After selecting your cup via the Wink iOS app, the beans drops down into the burr grinder, from there the grounds are released into the paper filter and water is showered over top. The coffee ends up in a double walled grapple glass carafe that is designed to “maintain temperature” longer than standard pots. Like all of Poppy’s products, this Pour-Over senses your supply and can automatically order new beans from Amazon’s new Dash service.

Next up, Poppy has the Pet, an automated dog/cat feeder that aside from supplying food can also track your pet’s eating habits. The smart pet feeder operates on a daily schedule, recording how much food is given while monitoring amount left in the supply. It can hold 20 pounds of food at once (the size of a typical bag), has a locking lid and can sense when it’s tipped over or the bowl is empty.

Poppy also has something for the babies, the Formula acts much like the previously mentioned devices providing an on demand bottle when needed. It has the ability to prepare bottles in 2, 4, 6, or 8 ounce servings, on a schedule when needed. Additionally, it will track your child’s eating habits over time.

At this time, Poppy has yet to release pricing or availability details on any of these products. Interested consumers can signup for notification when pre-order begins.
