Next up on the road to making absolutely everything in our lives connected: the trash can. Dubbed “the world’s first smartcan,” the Bruno trash can comes with all the usual suspects in tow, including reminders, notifications and one-touch ordering directly on your smartphone. But the intelligent receptacle can also help keep your floors clean as well.
Not unlike the the tiny smart Droplet buttons we featured recently, Bruno’s companion iOS and Android apps remind you to take the trash out, when your supply of garbage bags is getting low, and can provide a one button reordering system. There is also a built-in charging system and a trash bag storage pod (custom & standard 13 gallon) found beneath the hands-free, stainless steel lid. Simply wave your hand overtop to open it.
Along the bottom, Bruno has an integrated “vortex” vacuum inlet that virtually eliminates the need for a dust pan, according to the makers. This allows users to quickly sweep up dust, pet hair and other small debris before it’s deposited directly into the trash bag. You can see it in action below:
On the official site, Bruno is listed as “available soon,” and we are expecting an official Kickstarter launch come next week on April 29th. While there will likely be a number of different special pre-order options for early backers, the site currently shows 5 color options (arctic white, slate grey, urban red, harbor blue and stainless) with a price of $229.
