Review: iClever’s Surge Protector packs 12 ports to charge your gear [Deal]

$19

Ensuring that all of our devices are charged is a never ending struggle. From your phone, computer, external battery packs, the list goes on. Depending on your home, you probably don’t have as many outlets as you’d like, which is where iClever’s new 12-port Surge Protector enters to lend a helping hand.

Surge protectors are by no means a new product category, even ones that include USB ports on top of the standard AC outlets. But up until this point I really wasn’t convinced that I needed, or even wanted one. I typically rely on a standard power strip paired with AC USB chargers to keep my arsenal of gadgets fully powered. After a few days with iClever’s surge protector though, my old ways seem kind of silly.

In terms of quality, I’ve purchased a variety of surge protectors in the past, most recently these from AmazonBasics. The difference between the two products is definitely noticeable. The iClever Surge Protector feels overall very well made; the plastic casing is much less brittle than Amazon’s while the power cable seems far studier.

In the box, you’ll receive the power strip itself, a wall-mounting plate and product guide. It has an impressively long power cord, which is definitely appreciated. The mounting plate is a big plus too, helping you keep cables out of sight by adhering it to a wall or your desk.

As for the technical specs, it has six USB ports paired with six standard AC outlets.  While the outlets are fairly typical, outputting a maximum of 15 amps per port, the USB ports include what iClever calls SmartID technology. This adds extra circuit protection and can identify specific devices to optimize the charging speeds and efficiency. The power strip sports automatic overload protection to keep your powered devices safe.

With only a few days of use, I’m pretty impressed with the overall quality and performance. It had no problems powering my desk setup, which is comprised of a Mac Mini, Thunderbolt Display, a powered external hard drive, an Airport Extreme, Philips Hue Bridge, and an ethernet switch all while still powering up my Apple Watch and phone as quickly as the standard chargers.

While the surge protector is geared towards home use, I definitely see this being an addition to my gear when traveling. I typically bring a power strip and AC adapters to make sure my gadgets are charged, but iClever’s solution will be a lot simpler.

If you’re looking for a one-stop-shop to power your desk, you can purchase iClever’s new 12-port Power Strip for $25.99 on Amazon. However, using code CLEVER66 at checkout will drop the price down to just $19. If you are not a fan of the black color option, it is also available in white. Overall, the iClever Surge Protector is a great addition to desk setup. At $19 its hard to beat for the convenience and quality that iClever delivers on.

This iClever BoostStrip Series IC-BS03 Power Strip turns one 3-prong outlet into 6 AC outlets with surge protection and 6 USB ports with SmartID technology. Designed with AC power switch to control performance of AC outlets, it ‘s easy to cut power for a complete shutdown when not in use to conserve energy. Ideal for home or office, this power strip gives ultimate convenience and protection for computer electronics, home entertainment systems, digital USB devices and more.
