While these are the official instructions from the toy brand, other LEGO enthusiasts have been posting video tutorials for weeks on YouTube. You can see just how to construct all kinds of iterations of the popular stress relieving toy. While most of the for-sale versions are simple plastic three-pronged trinkets, the variations available when you make your own are pretty much infinite. You can even say that creating the spinner may be just as productive or distracting as the actual process of playing with one.

If you think about it, your basic fidget spinner is just a bearing in the center of a well designed trinket. Also, it’s usually made from any of a variety of materials including brass, stainless steel, titanium, copper or plastic in our case today. This stress relieving “toy” has been advertised as helping people who have trouble with focusing or fidgeting (like those with ADHD, autism, or anxiety) by acting as a “release mechanism” for nervous energy or stress. Although, many people (including experts in psychology) are divided on this claim, some argue the toy may actually be more distracting. Either way, It’s fun and addictive to play with making it a hit for anyone young or old.

Believe it or not, fidget spinners were actually invented back in the 1990s and they only became a popular toy years later in 2017. While the mental health benefits are debatable, the toy began being used by young children, resulting in some schools banning the spinners, saying that it became a distraction in classrooms. Other schools are allowing the toy to be used discreetly by children in order to help them concentrate.
