Sony set to drop a $250 all-gold 1TB PlayStation 4 console

(Update 6/6 2:10pm): Pre-orders on the all-gold PS4 at $249.99 are now up on Amazon!

That rumored, all-gold PS4 is a real thing. Sony has now officially announced that it will be selling the limited edition PS4 come June 9th as part of its overall E3 2017 celebration…

It is that time of year again. The biggest expo of the year is set to kick off come June 13th but most of the major events will be taking place before that. Sony will be telling the world what it has to offer for the next year in gaming (The Last of Us 2 whoo!) at 6 pm PDT on Monday, June 12th. But it will be kicking off its own festivities of sorts a few days earlier, headlined by the new all-gold PS4.

The limited edition blinged-out console will come with the expected matching DualShock 4 controller and the larger 1TB of storage.

Now some reports suggest the machine will only be sold from June 9th until the 17th when E3 2017 closes its doors for another year. However, it does appear as though the console will be on sale for $249.99 during that period, before it jumps back up to regular $299.

Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t dropped enough details for us to know for sure. But USA Today is reporting the entire lineup of 1TB PS4s will be on sale for that time, while others have suggested only the gold version will be on sale. In other words, who knows, but we are getting an gold PS4 that will be available for $249.99 from the 9th through the end of E3.

Early leaked retailer listings, suggest the gold PS4 will be available at most outlets including Walmart, Best Buy and more. We are also likely to see the all-gold PS4 controller go up for sale on its own.

Sony will be running a sale on software during those dates as well, but again, there is no direct details just yet.
