Subscription boxes have really grown in popularity within the past several months. And no wonder, having curated assortments of snacks, clothing and more delivered straight to our doorsteps is a pretty cool novelty. It seems now the trend has grown large enough that even big brands like Hasbro can’t keep its hats out of the ring. Today, the toy and board game company has launched its first endeavor into subscription services with its Hasbro Gaming Crate.
Fad or not, there’s no denying the popularity that subscription boxes have amassed in recent months. From things like artisanal snacks to individualized clothing, practically anything can be delivered to your home each month. Now Hasbro is following suit, but rather than offer its standard array of toys, the company is opting for a different approach.
With its first subscription box, Hasbro offers an exclusive assortment of board and party games to subscribers each month. Named the Hasbro Gaming Crate, the service is comprised of two different themed boxes which cater towards several types of gamers and is said to be curated by gaming experts.
The Family Crate offers exactly what you’d expect, games designed to bring a family together for some fun enjoyed by all ages. On the less family-friendly side of things, you’ll find the Party Crate, which is geared specifically towards college students, young adults, and parents looking to enjoy an edgy night away from their kids.
Each crate contains three exclusive games selected by Hasbro’s Gaming Experts, which will vary based which themed box you opt for. In the Family Crate, you’ll find one game titled MASK OF THE PHARAOH which is said to be an app-based, collaborative, virtual-reality board game.
Party Crate subscribers will find an adult version of the game Speak Out, where players attempt to say edgy and NSFW phrases while wearing a speech-prohibiting mouthpiece. As for the other four games that subscribers may receive, it looks like Hasbro is keeping those a secret as not to spoil too much.
While a majority of the subscription boxes we recently took a look at are relatively inexpensive, Hasbro’s Gaming Crate is quite pricey in comparison. Now other boxes are typically either on monthly or bi-monthly schedules, while Hasbro’s is once every three months. With this in mind, the $50 per crate price tag doesn’t seem that bad.
Starting today, you can subscribe the Hasbro’s first subscription box for $49.99 per crate plus shipping. The first round of boxes won’t be shipping until later this year come fall, so board game fans will have to wait a little to get their hands on the exclusive content.
