Charging on-the-go is always an issue for many of us these days. Lugging around a power bank is not an easy solution either — especially if you forget to charge it. But now there’s the Solpro Tag currently being funded on Indiegogo. This tiny device has just enough battery power to keep your smartphone going the rest of the day. Plus, it has a solar panel so you can keep it charged even if you forget to refuel it. There’s also a cable that allows you to hook it to anything and even tracking with TrackR integration.
What’s really interesting about the Solpro Tag is its tiny footprint. It’s only about the size of a credit card and it only weighs about 2oz. Solpro has said that customers consistently asked them for smaller, lighter battery packs that they can take anywhere. The company also wanted to make something that looks great, be easy to use, and is “light as a feather”. That’s what they hoped to have accomplished with the Tag, their latest power bank and solar charger.
The other problem Solpro attempted to tackle was the solar charging itself. The company included one of the highest efficiency solar cells available on the market today to the tiny power bank. You can simply hang the Solpro Tag from your bag and begin charging anywhere there is natural light. So you can be at a restaurant or walking back and forth from your car.
The next generation of USB technology is USB-C. The Solpro Tag has twin USB-C charging ports that are ready for the latest devices and the included USB-A adapter lets you use any of your legacy cables as well. When you begin to charge the Solpro Tag with its built-in solar panel, you can grab almost 200mAh per hour from the sun. This means that one hour of sun charge equals approximately 10% extra battery life for most smartphones. Obviously, solar energy is free and you can grab it almost anywhere at any anytime. Plus, when your phone is hovering around 0% that extra boost can be a lifesaver.
With a month left in its campaign the Solpro Tag is well on its way to reaching the fundraising goal of $28,800. If you would like your own Solpro Tag, a pledge of $39 will get you one Tag, with a free protective bumper, USB adapter so you can use all your legacy cables and a free USB-C ribbon cable.
