The Nintendo Switch has clearly taken the world by storm. While software is still thinner than most would prefer, the company’s latest hybrid console still sells out the second it becomes available some 4 months after it initially hit store shelves. We are already seeing some great deals on accessories from mainstays like PowerA, HORI and PDP for those who have managed to bring a Switch home, but today we are taking a closer look at the new PowerPACK…
There are certainly already a number of docks, cases and power banks available for the Switch, however, the folks at SwitchEasy are looking to bring it all together. Dubbed the “world’s very first charge and play case for the Nintendo Switch”, PowerPACK ensures you are charged and comfortably docked for play anywhere you might be.
According to SwitchEasy, most players will realistically get around two and a half to three hours of play time on a single charge, which is clearly not enough for anyone looking to save the kingdom of Hyrule. So with the creation of PowerPACK the company hopes to keep your Switch, games and accessories protected and neatly stowed away for travel, while providing a storage space for your power bank.
You simply strap your power bank to the back of the dock and connect it to your Switch via the USB-C cable. It can even accomodate your Comfort Grip at the same time.
But not only is this a charging case, it is also a dock. After connecting the power bank with the included USB-C cable, PowerPACK’s patent-pending L-shape dock will hold your Switch up so you can use the Comfort Grip or Pro Controller just about anywhere.
Along with the USB-C cable, SwitchEasy is also including a pair of its exclusive microSD card cases to early Kickstarter backers with the pre-order purchase of a PowerPACK. Another nice touch here is the built-in GamePocket on the inside of the case. It has 7 specifically designed game card slots each with access holes allowing you to remove and replace them with ease, according to SwitchEasy.
Update: SwitchEasy has informed us there was a pricing error on the page. The suggested retail price will be $29.99 and the early bird backer price is $14.99.
While its Kickstarter campaign is still in its early stages and has a long way to go, it would be nice to see an all-in-one Switch accessory like this on the market. The $60 expected retail price sounds a little crazy to us considering there are loads of options for drastically less from already established Nintendo gear accessory makers. However, early backers can get one for $29.99 and this thing will more than likely drop well below $60 after it releases (especially for avid Electronicsforward readers). It is expected to begin shipping worldwide come September.
