How-to: make your guest room cozy for your visitors

Having guests stay in the near future? Today, I am sharing how to make your guest room cozy and inviting for anyone who is staying at your home. From organizing tips to adding warm layers, keep scrolling to find out how-to make your guest room ready for friends and family.

When you have guests stay, the space you make should feel like a home away from their own place. My first tip of advice is too air out your guest rooms before they arrive. You can even place a neutral smelling air freshener or candle in the room, too. Plus, it’s always nice to give the space a cleanning to make sure floors, bedding, bathroom and windows are clean.

One of the best ways to see if your guest room is all ready to be spent in, is to stay in it yourself. Also, you might want to think about things you would like or would want or need in the space. If it’s a touristy town, place a brochure or a notepad full of the top places you like to go in the nightstand.

If your guests are staying for more than a couple of days, they will probably want their clothes out of suitcases and bags. Make sure you clear out a couple dresser drawers or leave a few empty hangers in the closet. Plus, have plenty of baskets and bins in the bathroom and bedroom so your guests don’t have to keep going through their toiletry or duffle bags during their stay. Another great idea is to add hooks in the bedroom so their personal items such as handbags and coats aren’t laying on the floor.

Update your guest room by changing out the duvet or comforters with heavier or lighter material. In addition, revamp your pillow shams with seasonal patterns, like plaid or nautical stripes. If it’s in the cooler months, it’s always nice to have throw blankets or quilts in case it gets too chilly in the room. Place fresh sheets on the bed and store new towels on the racks and in the in the cabinets of the guest bathroom.

Don’t have a guest room? Invest in a piece, like a pull-out sofa or a daybed that can be placed in any room. Find something that is comfortable, and easy to store away from day-to-night. Are you ready for your guests to stay? Let me know in the comments what you like to add to your guest room.
