Sea of Thieves is washing onto store shelves in just under one month’s time now. Microsoft is pushing Rare’s upcoming open-world pirate game as the next big exclusive for Xbox One. After running what appeared to be a successful closed beta last month, Microsoft is celebrating the launch of 2018’s first big pirate game with a brand new special edition Xbox One S bundle.
After being announced way back in 2015 at Microsoft’s E3 showcase, followed by the first gameplay unveil at the following year’s show, Sea of Thieves is finally ready for Prime time.
The game is essentially a large open-world pirate adventure where you will be teaming up with a crew of other players online to go on quests and battle other pirates at sea:
Form a crew and take to the open ocean on voyages to discover buried treasure, solve puzzling riddles, secure precious cargo and combat a wide array of challenges. In a world where every sail signals a ship crewed by real players with unique goals and motivations, you never know what lies over the horizon.
You’re looking at a pretty standard affair for the bundle here. There’s the Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive, a wireless Xbox controller and a full game download of Sea of Thieves on day one.
You’ll also find the usual 1-month Xbox Game Pass (more details on that right here) and 1-month of Xbox live Gold, of which you’ll likely want to extend considering the multi-player/cooperative nature of Rare’s new pirate adventure.
It would have been nice to see Microsoft incorporate some of the design elements of the already announced Limited Edition Sea of Thieves accessories like the charging stand and Seagate drive.
The new Sea of Thieves Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller is now available for $74.99 (currently out of stock), and as you can see above, features an interesting translucent purple design with a glowing skull accent. The controller also includes an exclusive in-game Ferryman Clothing Set for your Sea of Thieves character, a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial and a 14-day Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Nonetheless, the new Xbox One S Sea of Thieves Bundle is already up for pre-order at $299 and will be releasing on March 20th alongside the game. And keep an eye on Electronicsforward for deals on that Limited Edition Wireless Controller as well.
