As your collection of LEGO sets build up, odds are you’ll have more and more spare pieces lying around just waiting to be misplaced, or even worse, stepped on. And if you’re anything like me, creativity sometimes gets the best of you as you mash together some of your kits to craft your own creations. To help tackle your organizational woes, we’ve rounded up the best ways to keep all your LEGO bricks in one place.
LEGO bricks come in all shapes and sizes these days, and so do ways to store them. Some are better than others, but based on your needs, you’ll be able to find a variety of towns that suit your LEGO collection.
Managing your children’s collection of LEGO can be pretty chaotic. Given that they’re probably always building away, assembling and dissembling their creations, spare parts may be always lying around. What better way to tackle this than with a LEGO Brick-themed storage box. They come in variety of colors and sizes, making them a perfect addition to any collection.
They may be great for younger fans, but there’s something neat about storing your LEGO bricks in an even larger one. Pricing varies based on how many pieces you’re looking to store, with a 2 by 2-stud brick going for $20. If you’re in need of more storage, a 4 by-2 brick will run you $30.
For those with a more massive collection of bricks, more child-friendly options might not do the trick. Stackable drawers and organizers are a great way to store your LEGO pieces as they offer more organization than just throwing all your bricks into a giant tub. Multi-tier drawers like those from Sterilite will run just under $29 and provide an expansive way to keep your bricks where they need to be.
IRIS’s 6-Drawer Rolling Storage Cart is another standout if you’re in need of more storage, and goes for $29 as well.
For master builders, these storage solutions might not do the trick. Sure they can keep a lot of LEGO pieces in one place, but when there’s that one specific element you need, searching through a tub just isn’t that appealing.
That’s where hardware and craft cabinets come into play. The multi-tiered organizers come in a variety of configurations, with different numbers and sizes of miniature drawers. The larger 44-bin organizers sell for under $34, with some of the smaller options starting from $14.
I’ve been using these to catalog my massive collection of pieces for a few years now, and not only are hardware cabinets a huge time saver, but feel like the most appealing option for storing LEGO bricks. An extra trick is to print out an image of whichever pieces you’re storing to help make retrieval even more of a cinch.
