Start your production career with the new Beat Snap for iOS/Android [Video]

There are loads of interesting apps out there than combine preset DJ-like techniques with actual music sequencing and composition. One of our favorites in that category, while it certainly leans more towards the pro side of things, is KRFT. But today, we are taking a look at a new product from the folks over at MIXVIBES that is looking to make original music composition even easier and more fun than ever. Question is, will the somewhat suspicious IAP business plan ruin it all?

The app essentially provides users with loads of sound packs made up of 35 different instruments and sound types. Each of which are loaded up onto the app’s 32 performance pads as kits, so to speak. From there you’ll have four separate sequences to create patterns and parts as well looping, effects and much more.

You’re looking at six “live-controllable FX” like delays and reverbs, all of which can be triggered via the performance pads by the sounds of it. While it is certainly a much more trimmed down experience from GarageBand or big time desktop DAWs, that is sort of the point here.

Record sequences in a few taps by playing with sounds made by international producers. Easily visualize instruments on each pad

MIXVIBES is looking to design an app that just about anyone can make great music on right away, with as little direction and frustration as possible. Basically, due to the nature of the professional crafted kits or sound packs, all of the sounds and samples work well with each other and span over 40 different styles of music.

Looking for a fun and inspiring way to make your own beats? Incredibly intuitive and powerful enough to keep you playing for hours, Beat Snap is your new tool of choice. Pick your favorite style among a catalogue of packs inspired by tracks that shaped pop culture, from Hip-Hop to Rock or Electronic music. Record sequences in a few taps by playing with sounds made by international producers. Easily visualize instruments on each pad.

Beat Snap is available on iOS and Android for free. But there is a subscription plan in place here if you want access to all of the sound packs. Of which MIXVIBES says there will be hundreds with new kits added every week.

At this point the subscription plan seems a bit pricey at $2.99 per week, but that all depends on how well it is supported down the line. One good thing here is that you can dip your toes in the unlimited access for a week, feel it out, and then just not subscribe there after if it doesn’t meet your standards.

Having said all that, it’s hard to agree with the business plan here regardless, and we highly recommend giving the app a try before starting any kind of subscription. And don’t forget to manually end your sub after it is up in case of auto renewal practices.
