Korg debuts new limited edition color NanoSERIES2 controllers for Mac/iOS

It has been 10 years since the folks at Korg originally introduced its nano lineup of MIDI controllers. The family of products were then refreshed some years ago with the nanoPAD2, nanoKontrol2 and nanoKEY2 models. All three of the small footprint controllers are great for both Mac and iOS DAW setups providing hardware controls for your transport, mixer and more. They are easily some of the best portable options out there, providing you don’t require wireless transmission, and today Korg has announced a new limited edition run.

In commemoration of the initial 2008 launch, Korg is reissuing the nanoPAD2, nanoKontrol2 and nanoKEY2 in limited edition colorways. But we are also getting a healthy smattering of software in the package along with a solid discount coupon for even more.

The company is launching blue and yellow (BLYL) as well as orange and green (ORGR) versions of all three nano devices mentioned above. It does not appear as though the larger, all-in-one nanoKONTROL Studio Bluetooth/USB MIDI Control Surface will be included.

Korg says the blue and yellow colorway is designed to match its Gadget software environment/instruments whereas the orange model is supposed to match your typical DAW setup.

All things considered, outside of the new colors these are identical in terms of features as the standard color options beyond some of the add-ons. Each of the nano controllers include a Korg software bundle with a series of instruments and more to get you started, but the new colorways also ship with a 20% off coupon for Korg Gadget. Regularly $299 on the Mac, this is a great little discount on a great collection of gear. Even if you don’t use Gadget as a DAW but rather just its massive collection of instruments in your preferred recorder, it’s certainly worth looking into.

You can get all the details on that in our full hands-on review where we found Gadget to be slightly pricey despite being filled with inspiring instruments and sounds we wouldn’t want to do without.

While it is somewhat disappointing these aren’t brand new nanos with an updated feature set, the colors are nice and will certainly standout on stage or in your home studio. As we mentioned above, there will only be a limited run here, although we are unsure on the details for now, including the release date.

The standard color nano controllers start at just $55 shipped on Amazon, so you can likely expect a bit of premium on the limited versions.
