Earlier this week we detailed the best Black Friday rewards programs out there to enhance your holiday shopping experience. While these programs, which are mostly free deliver some notable perks, there are some other ways to save if you’re willing to go to the next-level this holiday season. Amazon’s in-house credit cards offer substantial rewards and cash back, which can be particularly enticing during Black Friday. The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card includes 5% cash back on all Amazon purchases along with added perks at Whole Foods and other retailers. Head below for a full breakdown.
Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card
Amazon’s had rewards credit cards for some time, first in partnership with Chase and now with Visa. The latest iteration delivers 5% cash back on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. A Prime membership is required, but lets face it, if you’re picking up the Amazon credit card that’s probably an already foregone conclusion. Those without a Prime membership will see that number reduced to 3%.
The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card isn’t just limited to shopping at Amazon, you can also grab 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores. Plus 1% cash back on anything else. Like any credit card, there is an APR that varies by individual, but thankfully there isn’t an annual fee.
Historically, Amazon has offered various perks throughout the year for Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card members. At times this has been extra cash back in various categories or early access to some discounts. These aren’t as widely publicized as some other Amazon promotions, but worth noting as an additional benefit here.

Amazon.com Store Card
If you’re not wanting to start up with another credit card this year, consider the Amazon.com Store Card. With 5% cash back for Prime members, it delivers various perks that are similar to Target’s REDcard. Amazon is more aggressive here with promotions, most notably offering 0% financing for 12 months on many Amazon-sold items.
The downfall? Amazon charges a higher APR here, so you’ll want to be sure to stay on top of those statements when they come in the mail. Whether you go with Amazon’s VISA or Store Card, having one of these credit lines in your arsenal can be useful come Black Friday. Of course, like with any credit card, it’s important to pay the balance off monthly and use your best judgement. Late fees and APRs can quickly eliminate the benefits of Amazon’s cash back offers.
