Holiday shipping windows begin to close at Amazon, Target, Best Buy, more

amazon shipping windows

We’re getting down to the finish line of the holiday shopping season, and retailers are beginning to share deadlines for Christmas shipping windows. So if you’re still thinking about doing some online shopping, now is the time to get it done. For most retailers, the last day to buy online and have it delivered by the 25th is rapidly approaching. Head below for a list of holiday shipping deadlines for each major retailer.

Amazon holiday shipping: free delivery closes soon, more

Much like years past, Amazon has been offering free delivery throughout the holiday shopping season. As noted on this landing page, this perk is about to come to an end. Friday, December 14th, is the last day to enjoy free holiday delivery in time for Christmas. Now this is slightly confusing, because Amazon’s standard shipping plan that requires orders of $25 or more gives a little more grace by extending the window to Monday, December 17th.

Those with a Prime membership can push the order button as late as Saturday, December 22nd on most items and still be guaranteed delivery on the 24th. — a perk of Christmas Eve falling on a weekday this year. After that, we’re getting down to same-day delivery windows in metro areas only. The moral of the story is, if you’re still browsing through Amazon’s shopping guides, it’s time to get those orders going sooner rather than later.

Walmart, Best Buy and Target also closing holiday shipping windows

Best Buy has a dynamically updating calendar that’s actually pretty cool. It represents all of the major holidays this month and adjusts based on your location. Primarily, regardless of your shipment’s final location, Best Buy is mostly recommending that orders be placed by December 17th. Of course, you can opt for in-store pickup and avoid that whole mess as late as December 24th.

Target and Walmart each offered their own free shipping promotions for the holiday season. Big red shoppers have always been able to enjoy this extra perk as a REDcard member. Target is also recommending orders be made by December 22nd to ensure delivery by the 25th. In-store pickup is also an option here as well.

Walmart is also recommending orders be placed by the end of next week in addition to its popular in-store pickup options. However, Walmart is back to its usual $35 minimum on most orders.

The holiday shopping season is coming to a close but we’re still expecting to see a few more aggressive offers from Amazon and others as December draws on. Be sure to keep it locked to our Electronicsforward twitter account for all of the best deals in the lead up to Christmas.
