Update: Amazon has price-matched Best Buy’s $200 off promotion. If you are not eligible for Best Buy’s edu discount then Amazon’s deal is better due to potential tax savings (at time of purchase) and Prime membership benefits.
As part of their 2-day Black Friday in July promotion, Best Buy is offering $200 off all available Retina MacBook Pro models for everyone, plus an additional $100 off for customers with valid edu email addresses. That means you can grab a 13″ Retina MacBook Pro with a 2.5GHz i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD for as low as $1,199.99. A total savings of $300 off the retail price of $1,499. This beats last week’s deal by a solid $100. There are two 13″ and 15″ standard configuration models available in this sale. Buyers with a valid .edu email address can grab their $100 promo code through this Best Buy page. Deal ends tomorrow.
American Express cardholders can save additional $25 with this promo, bringing the total cost of an entry-level Retina MacBook Pro down to an unheard of $1,174.
Remember the new Retina MacBook Pro does not come with an optical drive. If you cannot live without a DVD/CD drive you can pickup a discounted Apple SuperDrive fresh off an Amazon price drop for just $70. A total savings of 11%.
