Drones have enjoyed massive popularity throughout 2016 as consumers have taken a liking to capturing aerial footage. One of the disadvantages, however, is that quadcopters often require quite a bit of work to setup and carry around. Recently, a Kickstarter project popped up that hopes to avoid those very problems. AirSelfie (not the best name, we know) is a small drone that fits in your hand and can be folded up into a custom phone case for storing.

It is controlled via a free iOS or Android app, just like other popular drones and it can fly up to 60-feet in the air. AirSelfie works a lot like a video game. There are three flight modes that are controlled by an on-screen joystick or the accelerometer in your device. Sadly it can only fly for about three minutes, so it’s really just for taking a few aerial photos. AirSelfie churns out 5MP images or 720p video and fully recharges in 30 minutes. At this time, a pledge of around $200 is slated to deliver this miniature drone in April if the Kickstarter project hits its goal in the next month.

Of course, these $16 mini drones will do the job too…

MiNT has been taking previously unusable old Polaroid cameras and outfitting them with modern features for some time. Now, in celebration of its 10,000th unit, it has released a special edition model called the SLR670-S. MiNT takes classic Polaroids and brings them into 2016 with specs like automatic shooting modes that can handle low or high ISO film. Mint has also added a new motherboard and “electric eye” bringing enhanced image stabilization.

The SLR670-S is also getting a new outward design that includes a striking gold trim. Additional features include an adjustable shutter and a built-in f/8 lens. If you know someone that digs vintage photography, this could be a wonderful and unique present this holiday season. Not only does MiNT’s cameras combine modern and classic design, it tells a story while doing it. The latest model is available today for $675 in black and brown.

One of the biggest features that separates most smartwatches on the market today is battery life. Generally, this category carries standard specs across the board for smartphone connectivity and fitness tracking. But you’ll find substantial variation when it comes to charging habits. For example, my Apple Watch needs a boost nightly but Casio’s Smart Outdoor Watch can go up to 30 days. The new Matrix Powerwatch goes even further with an intriguing thermoelectric design that uses body heat to power itself. While it is dubbed ‘a watch you’ll never take off’, your data is stored to internal memory when removed and saved for your next use.

Powerwatch can track your activity levels, including calories burned and steps taken. The aircraft-grade aluminum casing is capable of withstanding 50 meters of water while swimming and the like. There are interchangeable watch faces that display different data points depending on your needs. Smartphone connectivity relays notifications and more. Matrix Powerwatch is available on Indiegogo today for $99 with an estimated ship date of July 2017, if everything goes to plan.

Noordung is an electric bicycle manufacturer based out of Europe that blends top-of-the-line technology with beautiful materials. Its newest creation, the Angel Edition, is a limited run of 15 handmade eBikes. This stunning two-wheeler goes beyond basic commuting. Noordung has outdone itself here with a design so sleek that it looks like it belongs in the next James Bond movie.

Looks aside, the Angel Edition is loaded with tech too. The ‘tank’ is detachable from the frame and offers a battery pack that can be used just about anywhere. It will charge the bike’s drivetrain but also has USB ports and a built-in Bluetooth speaker. Noordung uses a 33.6V 450Wh battery that is capable of providing roughly 19-20 miles worth of range on a full charge. At this time, there is only slated to be 15 units available for purchase worldwide. The Noordung Angel Edition is available for purchase today for $8,700.

Nikon has introduced its new D5600 entry-level DSLR that focuses on consumer-friendly features and a relatively affordable price tag. A descendant of the D5500, this camera adds new connectivity options but keeps the same 24 megapixel CMOS sensor. Nikon hopes that the D5600 will be an attractive option for budding photographers looking to make the jump from a smartphone.

Upgrades over the previous generation include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity that allow users to instantly transfer photos wirelessly via Nikon’s free smartphone app. There is a 3.2-inch LCD display on the back that tilts and swivels. It is the beneficiary of new in-depth touchscreen controls that the D5500 lacked. Nikon also added a new time-lapse movie mode that was previously only available on higher-end models. Final pricing and availability has yet to be revealed but we’re guessing the D5600 will sell for around $1,000.

Leica has been making an aggressive push to lower its prices with new releases in hopes of opening itself up to a new group of consumers. That trend started with its Sofort Instant Camera and continues with its new mirrorless TL model. At $1,700, it’s still more expensive that some of the most popular cameras out there but you should still expect to pay a premium for the Leica name.

The TL features a 16 megapixel APS-C sensor that is wrapped in a compact mirrorless body. It ships in a variety of sleek colors, including black, silver and titanium. There is a 3.7-inch touchscreen display on the back and it has built-in Wi-Fi for transferring images. Users will be able to attach any T or SL Leica lens. Available for purchase today from authorized retailers for $1,700.

While fitness trackers like Apple Watch and Fitbit excel at monitoring our activity levels throughout the day, they aren’t always the most fashion-forward accessories. Leave it to industry veteran Timex to come up with an attractive alternative. Its new iQ+ Move Watch offers classic styling and enough juice under the hood to still track your movements.

iQ+ Move has the usual simple Timex watch face that you’d expect with a few key additions. A smaller Activity gauge resides in the lower right quarter and it provides updates throughout the day on your movement goals. It also has smartphone connectivity that relays your stats to the free Timex app. iQ+ can also track your sleep metrics and it is water resistant to 50 meters. Timex is currently selling its latest watch for $149 in men’s and women’s varieties with extra bands available for purchase, too.
