Over at Amazon, you’ll find Crucial’s 2TB X9 Pro rugged portable SSD down at $127.99 shipped. That’s straight up a $42 discount on a drive that regularly fetches $170. We saw this unit drop below $100 last year before the industry-wide price hike hit SSDs, but this is the lowest price we have tracked for this particular unit in 2024. Amazon is now offering the Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 1TB Portable SSD down at $99.99 shipped. Regularly $140, this is $40 or 29% off and the lowest price we can find. Today’s deal comes within $10 of the lowest we have tracked on the made for Mac model that debuted on Amazon back in November. While you can still score Crucial’s 1TB X9 portable SSD on sale for $75 with the same speeds as the model featured here today, this one is pre-formatted for Time Machine and specifically optimized for “Mac, iPad, iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, iMovie, Photos, and more.” It features an anodized aluminum build with a silver colorway alongside USB 3.2 Gen2 compatibility, USB-C connectivity, and IP55 water- and dust-resistant with a 2-meter drop protection and a rubberized soft-touch base. Crucial’s X9 brings 4TB of portable SSD storage to your kit back down at the $210 Amazon low

Amazon has now brought back its holiday pricing on the Crucial X9 4TB Portable Solid-State Drive at $209.99 shipped. Regularly $280, this model first landed on Amazon back in late September before it began bouncing back and forth between $220 and full price. Today’s deal marks a return to the holiday pricing to match the lowest we have tracked since release. For comparison sake, the comparable Samsung T7 Shield sells for $299 in the 4TB capacity right now. Sitting at the top end of portable SSDs in terms of capacity, today’s Crucial deal delivers 4TB of storage space alongside a PC- and Mac-compatible setup (also works with gaming consoles and mobile devices) with USB 3.2 Gen2 support and USB-C connectivity. Best portable SSDs of the year: Samsung, OWC, Crucial, WD, and more

We are now rounding up all of our favorite on-the-go storage options in our 2023 collection of the best portable SSDs. While we didn’t see a ton of big-time standout new releases in 2023, there have been some next-generation releases from major brands worth consideration. Crucial T700 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD Review: Yes, this drive really does move data at 12,400MB/s

We first reported about PCIe 5.0 SSDs way back in January of 2022. Now, we’re finally starting to see some hit the market.
