Leica and Disney celebrating ‘100 Years of Wonder’ with limited-edition Q2 digital camera

The Walt Disney Company is preparing to celebrate its “100 Years of Wonder” as the company turns 100 years old. While there will be plenty of merchandise available online and in its theme parks, there is one item that I don’t think many saw coming. Leica has spent the last 100 years developing “precise optical instruments which have revolutionized the world of imaging many times over” and has ties to the earliest days of when Walt Disney was hand-drawing cartoons. Leica (called Leitz at the time) cameras and projectors were used to capture the storyboards that animations are made from, and now the two companies are working together again. As part of the “100 Years of Wonder,” Leica is creating a special limited-edition run of its Q2 camera with a Disney skin. Keep reading below the fold to learn more about this limited-edition camera.

Disney’s award-winning Animated iPad app hits a new all-time low price of $3 (Reg. $10)

Great stories are the heart and soul of Disney. They are the very essence of every immersive theme park ride, memorable piece of merchandise, and unforgettable song. Disney’s award-winning Animated iPad app offers a deep dive into the creative process behind these stories through “interactive images, animated clips with frame-by-frame control, Disney 3D characters to animate, and a rich timeline of all 53 Walt Disney Animation Studio features.” In 2013 Apple named Animated the iPad App of the Year.

Disney Animated is usually priced at $9.99, but it dropped down to a historical low of just $2.99 this morning. Heads up this app is massive. You’ll need 6GB of free space on your iPad to install it via the App Store, but it only uses 2.0GB when installed. If you don’t have that much free space, make your purchase on iTunes for Mac or Windows and then sync the app to your iPad.

Every Pixar movie is currently on sale at iTunes and Google Play with prices starting at $13 ea.

Pixar changed the film industry forever when it released Toy Story back in 1995. And ever since then John Lasseter and crew have been releasing full-length animated films that push the limits of technology and storytelling. The incredible titles that Pixar has produced in such a short period of time is staggering: Toy Story, Up, Cars, Brave, and Monsters Inc. Just to name some of my favorites.

This Friday Pixar is releasing its next film called Inside Out. To mark this occasion iTunes is currently featuring a Pixar promotion that discounts every full-length Pixar movie as well as some apps and other goodies. Pixar/Disney movies rarely go on sale, especially on iTunes. If you’ve been meaning to fill out your movie collection now’s the time to do it. Each movie usually sells for $19.99:

Individual rentals are discounted as well. The Pixar Story is also on sale at iTunes for $14.99 and Google Play for $12.99, which I would highly recommend if you’re interested in learning more about Pixar Animation Studios. You should be able to sync any of these movies with Disney Movies Anywhere to watch them on nearly any device.
