Add AirPlay music streaming to your house w/ JBL’s SoundFly Air Wi-Fi Speaker for $39 shipped (Orig. $200)

Apple’s AirPlay audio streaming has always been more expensive than Bluetooth. But as Bluetooth technology grows in popularity, audio gear makers are being forced to drop AirPlay prices. None of that changes the fact that AirPlay is a dead simple way for Apple fans to stream audio. AirPlay requires a Wi-Fi connection, but that’ll gain you greater streaming distances and improved audio quality.

And right now the argument that AirPlay is ‘overpriced’ is no longer valid — Harman Kardon is offering the JBL SoundFly Air Wi-Fi AirPlay Speaker for $200, but coupon code 39SDFLY drops your final price down to $39 with free shipping. That’s in-line with some budget Bluetooth options and the best price we’ve seen. Today’s deal is only $10 more than the best refurbished price we’ve seen.

Keep in mind that it doesn’t have a built-in battery. Instead, it gets plugged directly into a wall outlet, which may be more convenient based on your usage since it never has to be recharged and has a permanent home. Other features and tech specs include:

However, you should still take a look at the numerous third party options (below) that have been on the market for years. Many of these options offer more styling and better value compared to Apple’s dock.

If you were one of over 4 million people who preordered an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus this weekend, then you may have noticed that one of Apple’s most popular accessories for previous gen iPhones is curiously absent from its online store. As of right now, Apple seems to be sitting on the sideline and will not be releasing a dock designed for its newest smartphones.

Docks position your iPhone in a way that makes it easier to keep tabs on incoming notifications, all while helping create a clean workspace by wrangling messy cables.

There are already several iPhone 6 and 6 Plus dock solutions. Here are our favorite docks, stands, mounts, and more:

JBL Spark Bluetooth speaker features a fresh design and promises big sound

The world of portable Bluetooth speakers has become a bit bland and unoriginal. The current trend for most manufactures is to stuff their own audio equipment into some design that typically resembles a Jawbone Jambox. JBL is bucking that trend with the announcement of their new Spark Bluetooth speaker.

The Spark features a unique design that looks like a combination of a mega-phone and floodlight. A far cry from the typical rectangle speakers with the control buttons placed on top. In fact, the inline control buttons are placed on the fabric power cord making for an untouched finish on the speaker. Another difference is that the Spark is not portable, which helps keep costs down and is a bit more convenient for users who will not be traveling with their speaker. It does include a stainless steel hook for easy hanging. The translucent body comes in three bright colors (red, yellow, blue) and is very reminiscent of the original iMac design (IMO).

We are expecting the same great JBL sound quality out of the Spark as we’ve experienced with the Charge (one of our favorite portable Bluetooth speakers) and the popular sub $100 Flip. The Spark will retail for $130 and is scheduled to ship later this month. Preorder it now from JBL direct.
