Last year, Microsoft announced its accessibility-focused Xbox one controller at E3 2018. Geared toward those who need help with fine motor skills, the Adaptive Controller was Microsoft’s first big push toward Xbox for all, including those who are normally forgotten by many tech companies. In an effort to get the company’s Xbox gaming platform into more hands, a patent was recently filed and made public that featured a Braille controller so those with visual impairments could easily enjoy Microsoft’s console.

If you own both a gaming PC and an Xbox One, I’m sure you’ve had the thought of “I wish I could just chill on the couch and enjoy a relaxing gaming session” instead of sitting at your desk. Sure, 144Hz monitors and a keyboard/mouse are nice, but sometimes it’s best to set those things aside and enjoy games on the big screen. In an update to its Wireless Display app, Microsoft now allows you to play Steam and other PC games on Xbox One.

Outside of PCs, all major gaming systems out there still accept physical media. For many this is still their preferred way to play. While I do not fall into this category (and have not purchased a physical game in years), discounts and the ability to resell beaten games on discs (or cartridges) are not lost on me.

According to a report published by Windows Central, Microsoft is likely preparing to release a digital-only version of its popular Xbox One S. The internal code name is ‘Xbox Maverick’ and preorders could open up as early as next month. It is anticipated that the new console will be called the “Xbox One S All-Digital Edition”.

Financing the latest technology is more popular than ever before. For over a couple of years now, mobile carriers have been pushing customers to pay monthly for smartphones instead of signing contracts. Most of these companies have phased out contracts entirely, forcing consumers to either pay for their phone upfront or pay for it over the course of several years. Announced as a limited-time offer, this service is an option that bundles a new Xbox One S or X with Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass for a monthly fee.

Microsoft had a surprisingly notable E3 showing this year. After it appeared as though it might not have much to show when it hit the stage, it proceeded to bombard us with 50 games including 18 exclusives and 15 world premieres. Since then, we have seen some notable official price drops and even a pair of new Xbox One bundles as we continue through summer 2018, but it looks like the Xbox announcements and product unveils are just starting to heat up.

Today Microsoft is unveiling the latest in its long lineup of Xbox One controllers. The company looks to be introducing a new series of controllers to the family with the Xbox Wireless Controller Sport White Special Edition. While it seems as though just every possible color combination has already been released in some way or other, Microsoft is taking the design touches up a notch here as opposed to just dropping a fresh coat of paint on the standard gamepad.

At this point in the console cycle it is unlikely we will be getting any major announcements on the hardware side of things until the next generation machines get debuted. In the mean time, it will all be about special editions and new bundles looking to carry consoles as deep into the lifecycle as possible.

Sony recently unveiled the new Days of Play PS4 which headlined its big summer promotions this year surrounding E3 where it teased the new Kingdom Hearts 3 Special Edition console. And now, Microsoft is ready to turn out a pair of new bundles featuring Minecraft and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
