USB-C is great for our newest devices, but there’s just one thing we all miss about the old MacBooks. Okay..well, two if you count all the available ports we once had. What I’m talking about is that MagSafe connection that saved so many laptops from certain doom. You know, when you would accidentally yank the cord when you tripped over it. Unfortunately, Apple isn’t likely to bring back the MagSafe connection, but now you can outfit your house with similar type adapters right at the outlet.

Taking incredible shots using even the best DSLR camera is still incredibly difficult to do for novices, but a new company is making it easier for anyone to take stunning, pro-quality photos. The Aurga DSLR assistant has taken to Kickstarter and is the first of its kind with the goal of being the ultimate assistant for photographers. With over a month left in its campaign, Aurga has already met its funding goal and promises to help anyone at any skill level take the perfect shot.

Adding smartphone control to all of the devices in our home doesn’t require replacing everything, at least not according to a new smart hub called Beak. Armed with an IR blaster, Z-Wave and a long list of compatible gadgets, the hub can turn just about any home appliance from air conditioners to home theaters into a smart devices.

If you game on PC, you likely have a gaming mouse. At least, a gaming mouse of some sort. I had the Razer Mamba Chroma wireless gaming mouse for a while, and seriously loved it. The ergonomics were great, it was wired or wireless, and the sensor was fantastic. But it was a normal mouse. It had a left and right click, scroll wheel, and then back/forward buttons on the side. But there was nothing really “special” about it besides the sensor and that it was wireless with RGB lighting.

PC gaming mice have kinda been stagnant lately. Sure, a new mouse might come on the scene that has a better sensor, or maybe less latency over wireless communications, but where’s the real innovation. There’s actually a kickstarter for a mouse called the Lexip, and it’s for several things that could really be game changers for PC players out there.

There’s nothing more annoying than being at a backyard BBQ or any other outdoor get together and being attacked by mosquitos. Sure, you can spray yourself down with chemical repellants, but there has to be a better and easier way to get rid of these pests. An Indiegogo funded device called Radius is changing the way we deal with mosquitos all together with a newly developed zone repellant.

NAMM 2018 is in full swing this week highlighting the best of what the audio/music production industry will have to offer over the coming year. All of the biggest music gadget companies flock to Anaheim, California to show off their newest products and this year is no exception. NAMM is fully underway now with loads of new products hitting the show floor from Korg’s new polyphonic synth Prologue to new Universal Audio interfaces and the latest Teenage Engineering’s Pocket Operators. After introducing the Digitakt 8-track Drum Machine/Sampler and easily making our list for Best of NAMM 2017, Elektron is back in 2018 with its latest musical gadget.

Known for its quirky and yet extremely powerful sequencer design along with a growing line-up of incredible hardware instruments, Elektron is now unveiling the new Digitone polyphonic digital synthesizer.

Samson is one of those audio brands that might not standout in a lineup, but it has been offering high-quality products at affordable prices for over 2 decades. The company made its way to Anaheim, California for this year’s NAMM show with a number of new products including new cables, microphones and most interestingly, new powered monitors.

After the massive new Logic Pro X update hit today and with all of the new products coming out of NAMM 2018, it is certainly going to be a busy weekend for producers and musicians. And we have already seen new instruments from Arturia and Korg as well as Focusrite’s USB-C interfaces for Mac and the brand new metal-series Pocket Operators from Teenage Engineering.
