Fit half a terabyte (512GB) under a stamp with the latest in microSD card technology

Storage demands on both consumers and businesses are ever-increasing. Just last year, Samsung announced a 400GB microSD card for use in phones, tablets, cameras, and more. I recently visited CES in Las Vegas and had multiple 256GB microSD cards with me in case I needed to capture tons of footage or have a second backup medium.

Until now, 400GB has been the ceiling of microSD cards, with the SDXC standard supporting up to 2TB drives “in theory.” Well, we’re one step closer to proving that theory with Integral Memory’s latest announcement, a record-breaking 512GB microSD card.

Samsung slips up, gives us an early look at potential 860 Pro 4TB SSD

Update 1/23: Samsung has officially announced the 860 Pro and 860 Evo consumer SSDs. Storage sizes range from 256GB to the rumored (and now confirmed) 4TB, with prices going from $139.99 for 256GB Pro to $1,899.99 for the 4TB Pro model. Samsung’s 860 Evo 256GB starts at a much more approachable price of $99.99. As expected, the 860 Pro drives feature up to 560/530 MB/s speeds and come with Samsung’s normal 5-year warranty.

SSDs are becoming more commonplace in everyday life now, and I’m super excited about that. One of the best upgrades computers have received in recent memory is not faster processors, graphics cards, or RAM. It’s storage, and that is mainly because you can request data as much as you want, but unless your storage drive can keep up, you’re out of luck.

There’s a new STEM toy currently being funded on Kickstarter and it has already reached its funding goal with a month left in its campaign. It’s called PapierMachine and it teaches your kids about circuits by letting them build their own.

Yeti Touch is a tray that helps speed up kitchen prep by cutting defrosting time in half

Frozen meat like that takes so long to defrost that if you forget to do it, you’re really just out of luck. There is no good way of defrosting meat fast, sadly. This new defrosting tray claims that it can defrost a frozen steak in 10-12 minutes, while normal defrosting time would be 25+ minutes. Frozen chicken? Well, Yeti Touch also claims that it can defrost that in 14-16 minutes versus the normal 30 minutes required.

Cinego is an ultra-lightweight personal cinema that simulates an 800-In. screen

Everyone seems to be making a VR headset these days, some great, some not. One common theme among many is weight, as in the headset weighs quite a bit and can become tiresome to wear. There are a few reasons for this, including the tons of computing power built into the headset itself and the battery being stored in the headset, which the newcomer Cinego does neither of.

Cinego features a remote that handles most of the processing and battery housing so the headset can be lighter. In fact, the Cinego headset only weighs around 200 grams. This equates to around 7 ounces or less than half a pound. To put that into perspective, without cables the HTC Vive (similar resolution) weighs 555 grams and is not battery powered at all.
