Just ahead of Mario Day 2023, Nintendo has announced Metroid Fusion will be the first addition to the new Game Boy Advanced Nintendo Switch Online library. As part of the first Nintendo Direct showcase of the year – there’s another one hitting next week just for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie – Nintendo dished up the latest footage on the highly-anticipated Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (here’s how to score a deal on your pre-order), but it also announced the long-awaited arrival of Game Boy titles to its online library. And now, not even a month later, the first new title to hit the collection has been announced as Metroid Fusion is slated to land on March 9, 2023. Head below for more details. 

Game Boy Switch Online games are now officially a thing. As part of today’s exciting Nintendo Direct presentation, where we got a brand new trailer for The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo officially added Game Boy and Game Boy Advanced titles to its Switch Online library. While much of the collection is already available now, some of it is also locked behind the Expansion pack membership. Head below for more details and the games now live on the service.

Rumors have been surfacing all over the net about the next Nintendo Direct and details have now officially been confirmed! Most supposed leaks pointed at the next Nintendo Direct hitting sometime this week and we now officially know it is. Update: Nintendo and animation studio Illumination have now released a new Super Mario Bros. Plumbing Commercial, to promote the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get even more excited for the new Super Mario Bros. movie set to hit the silver screen this April. The movie is set to tell what appears to be an origin story of sorts for the titular plumbers while giving longtime fans a heavy dose of nostalgia and touching on several of Mario’s adventures over the years – Mario Kart, Odyssey, elements of Mario Galaxy, and much more. Last we heard from the film was the brief snippet that debuted during The Game Awards in December, but a new brief trailer has now been released. Head below for a closer look and more details.

The original SEGA version of Earthworm Jim has landed on Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo took to its official Twitter feed recently to unveil the latest additions to its Switch Online SEGA Genesis lineup – the new SEGA Genesis Mini 2 console is still available for pre-order – headlined by the original Earthworm Jim game alongside ALISIA DRAGOON and action RPG Beyond Oasis. All three are now available to Expansion Pack subscribers, and you can get more details below.

The Nintendo Splatoon 3 Direct showcase is set to kick off in just a few minutes now. With pre-orders already live and the new themed console on the way, Nintendo is ready to ink the next details on its upcoming squid shooter in today’s dedicated showcase. Now set for release on September 9, 2022, we are just under a month away from the launch date and Nintendo is set to dish up some of what will likely be the final pre-release details in today’s Splatoon 3 Direct showcase. 

Originally earmarked for a release this summer and now set to launch in September, Splatoon 3 pre-orders are now live with some fun bonuses attached. After getting our first look at the co-op mode back during the massive February Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo launched a fresh new gameplay trailer alongside the updated September release date in late April. Persona for Switch has now been confirmed. Nintendo hosted a new Direct Mini Partner Showcase today to detail some of the notable third-party titles hitting its hybrid home and portable gaming platform today. There were some expected announcements alongside what is arguably the most exciting of the bunch – the new Persona Switch ports. Alongside details on release dates for the upcoming Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope sequel, Nier: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition, and a few others, we now know the Persona for Switch rumors have finally come true as three of the biggest games in the series are set to land on Nintendo’s platform later this year. Update: On the heels of today’s Splatoon 3 release date reveal, Nintendo has now taken to its official Twitter account to announce that all Nintendo Switch Expansion packs members can play the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion DLC at no additional cost.

Back during February’s massive Direct presentation, Nintendo had the Splatoon 3 release date earmarked for summer 2022, but we now know the next entry in the squid shooter series is slated for September 2022 as per the tweet Nintendo just let loose on its official Twitter account. After surprisingly pushing the release date for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 ahead some three months, it would appear that Zelda Breath of the Wild 2’s delay into 2023 is shuffling the rest of the Switch lineup around a little bit. Back in September of last year rumors surfaced that Nintendo was readying some of its classic handheld games to appear on its current-generation console, and now new leaks seem to suggest a potential Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy service is still in the works. Last fall it looked as though Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles were headed to Nintendo’s Online service, but soon after that it announced the new Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis Expansion tier instead. And now, it appears the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance titles you were waiting for might still be on the way. More details are below.
