Back in August we detailed how you’d soon be able to bring home one of Sony’s new Aibo robotic dogs. After successfully launching here in the United States, Sony is now putting a new beagle-inspired breed up for adoption as well as introducing home security features into the mix. Head below for a closer look at the upcoming robotic pup and to see what new tricks this dog has learned.
Update 1/17 @ 2:22 PM: Pre-orders are now open at both Amazon or B&H.
Sony has long been the king of the mirrorless camera industry. From the company’s highly-rated Alpha A7 line to the more budget-friendly prosumer a6xxx line, Sony has reigned king for the past few years. Now, the Sony just announced its a6400 camera with real-time eye autofocus and tracking, the “world’s fastest autofocus,” and even a flip-up screen, something we’ve yet to see on anything but Sony’s RX lineup of cameras.
The a6400 features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor and the company’s acclaimed autofocusing technology. Pair that with the first flip-up touchscreen Sony has put on its mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, stellar 4K recording, and amazing autofocus, and the a6400 is going to be the camera to beat.
At CES 2019, Sony has announced five new Extra Bass Bluetooth speakers that are scheduled to join its existing lineup in the near future. These new models come in all sorts of shapes and sizes with its largest, the GTK-PG10, easily being the most intriguing of the bunch considering that it will hold on to four drinks within its built-in cup holders.
A brand new Lemmings game is out. Sony came out of nowhere to announce the new free mobile game to just about everyone’s surprise. The classic puzzle franchise has been around in some way or other for nearly three decades now and it’s making a festive return just in time for the holidays.
While Sony’s new miniature replica console may not have had all the titles on it you would have hoped for, some hackers have already figure out how to add new games to PlayStation Classic. As expected, hackers have breached the new PS Classic and are playing all those games you wished were on there in the first place.
The PlayStation holiday deals are now here. While Microsoft got an early jump, having kicked off its official price drops as early as last Monday, Sony is ready to launch its Christmas offerings starting today. Head below for all the details.
We first reported on PUBG’s arrival to PlayStation back in September when it was just a rumor. Now, two months later (almost exactly), we’ve learned that PUBG PS4 will finally launch on December 7th.
There will be pre-order bonuses for those who want it, and both disk or digital copies available. For those who don’t want to pay $60 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (our review) just to play Blackout, or wait until next year for Battlefield V’s Firestorm, this is a great option for PlayStation 4 gamers.
Needless to say, the holiday magic is in the air for real now and the PlayStation Black Friday 2018 deals have now been revealed. Almost all of the major ads have hit and this year’s selection of deals is shaping up to be some of the best in recent memory. Sony finally took to its official blog today to reveal its PlayStation holiday price drops. While we tend to get a good idea of what to expect from major retailers anyway, we now have official word directly from Sony.
Ahead of any majorly refreshed or upgraded hardware, Sony has silently tweaked the PlayStation 4 Pro. Coming just two years after the console was initially launched, Sony has opted to address yet another of the PS4 Pro’s biggest issues: its noise output. In its latest hardware revision, the console was found to be noticeably quieter than the original. Head below for more details on this newer, quieter PS4 Pro.
We have already detailed our expectations and the best ways to prepare for Nintendo and Xbox deals this year, but now it’s time for PlayStation Black Friday 2018. Likely only a couple weeks away from official announcements from Sony, head below for everything you need to know about the best PlayStation 4 Pro, PS VR and game deals of the year.
After admitting that Bluetooth was an okay standard for wireless audio, I’ve been on the hunt for a set of wireless headphones that work well, sound great, and are comfortable and versatile. Enter the Sony WH-1000XM3.
I’ve tried everything from the Bose QC35 II’s, Bang and Olufsen H9i, Bowers & Wilkins PX, and many more. Each of these claim to feature noice cancellation, which is something a lot of consumers are looking for when buying headphones. Most recently, Sony announced the third iteration in its WH-1000X series, the 1000XM3s (Mark III’s), and these are really close to being the headphones I’ve been searching for.
Head below to learn why.
While the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One aren’t old, they are starting to age. The One X and PS4 Pro bump did breathe a little more life into the systems, but a complete refresh is on the horizon. Just a few weeks ago, we noted that Nintendo was working on a new Switch, even though it came out after both Microsoft’s and Sony’s offerings. Microsoft has already mentioned that a new Xbox is being worked on, but up until now, Sony has been quiet. That’s all changed now that we know Sony is working on the next-generation PlayStation.
Well, October is here so it’s time to get into the Halloween spirit. This month’s PlayStation Plus freebies are here to help you celebrate the scariest month of the year with Friday the 13th: The Game. While it certainly didn’t review as well as we had hoped at release, this is a great chance to jump in for free in the days leading up to Halloween. Players take on the role of either a camp counselor or Jason Voorhess himself as the game of cat and mouse ensues. Sure, it’s flawed and won’t be the best game you play this year, but the price is right and it’s perfect timing. For comparison, it’s regularly $40, and right now a physical copy will run you about $26 on Amazon. More details and the rest of this month’s freebies are down below.
Sony has announced that is releasing a white version of its PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset. While many likely prefer one of the many third-party options out there, some still like to go with the generally well-received Sony cans. The sleek minimalist design has always been one of the strongest selling points here for us, and it looks Sony is continuing that trend with the white set.
Sony has just released the details on a brand new Red Dead Redemption 2 bundle. This news comes on the heels of a fresh batch of new screenshots (seen below) from the game that had fans stirring over new locations and more. But is the new bundle worthy of such an important and highly-anticipated release? Head below for more details.
(Update 9/14 11:48am): The Nintendo Switch version of Final Fantasy XV Pocket HD Edition is now available with launch pricing: $18 (Reg. $30).
Square Enix launched its latest entry in the storied Final Fantasy series in 2016 to critical praise (for the most part). That was followed up by a series of interesting DLC add-ons and then the Royal or complete Edition hit with loads of enhancements just before the iOS version dropped on the App Store. Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition for mobile was initially revealed in summer 2017 before going live at the top of the year. But now it looks like a somewhat confusing series of events that led to a cancelled Nintendo Direct presentation is pointing at a wider rollout for Square’s handheld version of the game.
If you take photos or videos with standalone cameras, chances are you have to deal with SD Cards on a regular basis. That’s because, like it or not, SD Cards are by far the most popular medium for photo and video storage on standalone cameras.
SD Cards have advantages: they are small, easy to acquire, and relatively cheap, but they also have some major issues. For instance, the achilles heel of an SD Card is its lack of durability. For a medium that stores memories of events that are often impossible to replicate, SD Cards are way too fragile for my tastes.
Sony is looking to change this with its new Tough-branded lineup of speedy UHS-II-enabled SD Cards. The branding is apt, because these cards are bend-proof, drop-proof, water-proof, and dust-proof.
Last last year, Sony leveraged nostalgia to reintroduce the world to its line of adorable robotic dog toys, Aibo. In November it was uncertain if we’d ever get to see Aibo released here in the United States, as is the case with many foreign releases. But today, Sony announced that it would finally be putting the lovable robo pup up for adoption outside of Japan. Available in a new limited edition bundle, Aibo comes with everything you’ll need to raise the mechanical four-legged friend.
As expected for this time of year, the major gaming companies are starting to unveil the big hardware additions for the busy holiday shopping season. Last week Microsoft hit us with a pair of new controller color schemes including that awesome matte translucent black Phantom design and today it’s Sony’s turn.
Sony has introduced an updated model of its existing XAV-AX200 head unit. The new model name changes slightly to XAV-AX210, and its differentiating feature is iDatalink Maestro support which provides a more seamless experience when interacting with controls that are already built-in to your car. Prior to this unit, steering wheel controls, vehicle settings, and more were not plug-and-play like most customers would have hoped.
Last week, Sony took to the official PlayStation blog to announce the brand’s 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro bundle. In celebration of having sold more than 520 million PlayStation consoles worldwide, the new bundle features a 2TB hard drive and a unique dark blue translucent design at a premium. Today, the company is talking PS VR sales numbers along with some new game release dates, deals and more.
Originally released back in April, the reboot of God of War was certainly a highly anticipated title ahead of its launch. But we’re not sure anyone expected something this incredible. Widely regarded as one of the best PlayStation exclusives ever released and most definitely the biggest of the year, God of War squashed expectations with its incredible visuals, seamless cinematic approach, memorable characters and a somewhat drastic move to over-the-shoulder third person combat. The game is triumphant on just about every measure and is about to get even better at the end of the month.
More than 525 million PlayStation systems have now been sold since the brand took the gaming world by storm about 24 years ago. Sony is celebrating the milestone with a brand new special edition PlayStation 4 Pro.
Just when you think you have the TV situation figured out in your home, Sony has announced four new UHDTVs that all pack quite a punch. The company wasn’t shy about this release, touting that the new sets were developed with the focus of bringing its ‘long history and expertise developing professional cameras and monitors’ to televisions. Aside from brand, these sets stand out from the competition with features like a Netflix Calibrated Mode, compatibility with CalMAN’s professional-grade display calibration software, a built-in 3.2 channel sound system, and more. With the name MASTER Series, Sony paints a very clear picture that it plans for this tech to lead the charge in its TV product line-up.
Update 9/6 @ 4:50 PM: GameStop currently has this limited edition bundle in stock for pre-orders (release 9/7) at $399.99 shipped or picked up in-store.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro is a fantastic console. I bought mine late last year and play it almost daily (when I’m not rebuilding my entire entertainment center…) Well, Sony being Sony, the company is releasing a special edition Spider-Man PlayStation 4 Pro in celebration of the upcoming release of the game. Costing no more than the regular PS4 Pro, this is a must-have for die-hard Spider-Man and Marvel fans alike.
Just last week, Minecraft for Nintendo Switch got a major update which, among other things, allows for cross-platform play between Nintendo’s latest console, Xbox One and PCs. One glaring omission from that list is the PlayStation 4 which currently will not allow players on other platforms to match with PS4 gamers. And that includes Minecraft, Rocket League and the ever popular Fortnite. Sony has yet to officially alter its position on blocking cross-play and the like, but a new statement from the company hints that might be changing.
Classic games can sometimes be hard to find at affordable prices. I’ve long been a fan of Project Cars, DOOM, Battlefield 4, and then there are series like Uncharted and Last of Us that all of my gaming friends try to get me to play. Paying full retail for these titles isn’t ever enjoyable years after release, and Sony realizes this. With that information, Sony has announced PlayStation Hits, a selection of well-known and best-selling titles for just $19.99 each, read on for more information.
The highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3 got a few good looks across the big E3 2018 showcase events. Square Enix gave us more during its presentation and then it also appeared with a new trailer and a brand new special edition PS4 Pro during the Sony press event last night.
Well, usually Sony is the E3 press conference to wait for, and this year it did not disappoint. Game of the show might still be up in the air if you ask me, but we caught a heavy dose of what is up next for PlayStation gamers regardless. Sony was said to be focusing on 4 or 5 main titles this year, but we got much more than that. Open world samurai action, web-slinging traversal and the sequel everyone has been waiting for, all that and more down below.
After PlayStation boss, John Kodera, recently announced that PS4 was nearing the end of its lifecycle we also got news on how valuable Sony’s PlayStation Plus membership has been for the company. After jumping more than 10 million users year-over-year to land at 80 million active subscribers, Sony wants to celebrate its gaming community with some serious price drops, a new limited edition PlayStation 4 console and much more.
Rumors of the PlayStation 5 have already begun to hit the internet and Sony recently made it clear that PS4 is nearing the end of its days. While for many the nearly half-decade old machine is about ready to be replaced, others have just recently upgraded to PS4 Pro and are more than happy to see whatever is next take a couple more years. Head of PlayStation, John Kodera, recently stated that while the company expects solid sales numbers across 2018, PS4 has certainly entered the “end of its lifecycle.”

Quantic Dream, led by game designer David Cage has been responsible for some of the most interesting and unapologetically cinematic experiences in gaming. The studio has heavily leaned on interactive storytelling and player ownership to create its most recent AAA titles. And now we are exactly one month from the release of the studio’s latest project known as Detroit: Become Human.
After officially going gold this week, Sony has announced the new Quantic Dream title will definitely be released next month and is now offering players a chance to give it a try early.
Nearly a year ago to the day, Sony announced an e-paper tablet that was met with groans thanks to its eye-popping $700 price tag. Designed with professionals in mind, the 13-inch tablet was made for those that regularly spend their days taking notes and jotting down ideas. For the average consumer, the need just didn’t seem to be there.
Flash forward to 2018 and Sony is ready to try again. This week it has announced a new and smaller version of the e-ink tablet that’s slated for a June release date. Dubbed the DPT-CP1, it’s designed to be friendlier to both your wallet and daily routine.
We are pushing five years since the release of Sony’s PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One from Microsoft. After higher-end versions of those machines hit store shelves with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, some industry analysts suggested this could be the last console generation. Meaning we were likely to see updated internals or some kind of jump to a completely new style of gaming platform before another traditional console generation hit. While that seemed like an interesting idea, it also seemed like it might be a little too soon for the big players to completely jump ship from the traditional business model and a new report suggests PlayStation 5 is already well underway.
Rumors and leaks regarding an upcoming PS4 bundle for the new God of War game have been all over the internet for the past month or more. Considering this is supposed to be the franchise’s return to glory, not to mention one of Sony’s most anticipated and beloved first party franchises, a special console bundle seemed imminent.
And to almost no one’s surprise, a little more than a month before the new game hits store shelves, Sony has now officially unveiled the new Limited Edition God of War PS4 Pro Bundle.

Last spring we got a glimpse at the Xperia Ear Duo, but now Sony has fully taken the wraps off its latest pair of cans. With one-tap access to your preferred digital assistant, voice notifications and more, Sony’s new earbuds enters the market with a unique design to top it all off.

Rated 4.2/5 stars by Amazon shoppers and a 90-day manufacturer warranty applies.

Last week, Sony debuted its brand new DualShock 4 controller designs.
