Call of Duty mitigates cheaters by ‘cloaking’ legit players as Warzone 2 is on the horizon

Yesterday, Call of Duty confirmed that Modern Warfare II is officially launching later this year. Warzone’s RICOCHET anti-cheat makes it so cheaters can’t do ‘critical damage’ to players

Cheating in Call of Duty Warzone has, at times, been at levels that not many other games have achieved at scale. After developing the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat kernel-level driver for Warzone and launching it, the game saw a drastic decrease in in-game cheat reporting, according to the company’s internal data. In fact, cheating in Warzone was at an all-time low during the holiday break. However, some cheat developers have gotten around RICOCHET, so the team has implemented and is testing a new feature called Damage Shield that does real-time anti-cheat as games are going on. Next Call of Duty to be made by Infinity Ward will be ‘most ambitious plan in franchise history’

It’s that time of year again. The current Call of Duty is a few months old, and it’s now time to set our eyes on what’s to come at the end of the year. Truth be told, Call of Duty Vanguard hasn’t been a well-loved title by the community. In fact, in Activision’s fourth quarter earnings report, they started that both console and PC sales have declined year-over-year, showing lower “premium” sales of Vanguard verses Black Ops Cold War, which launched the year prior. Also, lower engagement in Warzone needs to be addressed.
