While we first heard about playing Flight Simulator on the Xbox One through Xbox Cloud Gaming back in June of last year, the time has finally arrived. Launching as one of the March Game Pass updates, Flight Simulator, alongside several other titles, are now available to play on the Cloud. This means that even the original Xbox One, or any other Xbox Cloud-enabled device, can now take to the skies in Flight Simulator 2020. While everyone is still digesting the Microsoft Activision acquisition – and whether or not Call of Duty will end up an Xbox exclusive – a new Lunar New Year Xbox console has been in the lab. Microsoft is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with a (very) limited edition Xbox Series S console decked out in special edition artwork for the Lunar New Year, but it will not be easy to get one. Microsoft is about to buy Activision Blizzard. In Microsoft’s continued attempt at global gaming domination, and after spending a small country’s fortune on Bethesda, it is about to fork out the equivalent in $68.7 billion to acquire Activision Blizzard. This transaction, according to today’s press release, will make Microsoft “the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony.” Activision Blizzard has had its fair share of issues in the press as of late, but Microsoft is looking at the bigger picture for gamers here and will now absorb what appears to be all of the company’s major gaming franchises in the process. After a less-than-stellar first impression, Microsoft has now unleashed the new Halo Infinite campaign overview trailer and things are looking much better. The initial gameplay reveal for the most anticipated Xbox Series X game didn’t go over well with fans last summer, with some rough visuals and a lackluster presentation overall, but it appears 343 Industries has made leaps and bounds on the Halo Infinite campaign since then. After getting a look at the new 20th anniversary peripherals last week, Microsoft has today taken to its official Xbox blog to unveil the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob Xbox Series X consoles. These special edition versions of Microsoft’s flagship home console come in celebration of last week’s launch of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl – the station’s take on Nintendo’s Smash Bros. mascot brawler– that features characters from SpongeBob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and much more. It looks like the official Halo Infinite release date has surfaced. After Microsoft’s Gamescom main event came and went yesterday without even a mention of Halo Infinite, folks have now spotted some Microsoft store listings suggesting the game will release in early December. Microsoft today is relaunching the Xbox Design Lab. After announcing a temporary closure starting back in October 2020 to give it time to refresh the service as Xbox Series X/S launched, Microsoft took to the official Xbox Wire today to announce the relaunch of its bespoke Xbox controller program. Alongside some additional design options, this means the latest model Xbox wireless controllers can now be customized to your heart’s content, providing you’re willing to shell out the slight uncharge for doing so.
